Re-Mail will be not sended

Windows XP Pro (SP3)
Opera 10.51
E-Mail

When I write a Re-Mail from a opened Mail in the Ingoing Mails and will send it with the Send button, it stays in the Outgoing Mails and will not be send. It stays there for ever and does also not leave my box by pressing the Call/Send button in the main E-Mail windows. To answer mails I have to copy the old mail to a new mail and send it with the answer from that Window.

Check the outgoing email address in the FROM field. Is this actually valid? Compare the FROM addresses being used.

I know that I have some emails that are sent to me via an email address that is "forwarded". When I reply to these I find I then am sending from a non-existent account.

I'll explain:

I have an alias email address of ebay@example.com. Messages sent to this address are forward to the REAL account of mark@example.com.

If I REPLY to one of these messages, the email sits in the outbox showing it is FROM ebay@example.com and cannot be sent.

I then just click on that FROM address and use the drop down box to change to a valid email address of mark@example.com and can then hit SEND.

No, it's not an alias address. It's in any case a valid incoming mail address. The bug can be reproduced any time with any valid addresses. The re-mail stays in the outgoing mailbox and would not be send. If the bug is not solvable, I must return to the old fashioned OutlookExpress.

You need to look closer into your outgoing email settings for typos. This issue is does not seem to be happening for anyone else. I run 35 different POP3 email accounts through M2, running from 20 different domains with all kinds of different SMTP implementations and authentication routines. All of these are flowing fine.

I'll try and help narrow this down with you as I am a helpful kinda guy. And I can't have you going back to that nasty bit of badly written virus magnet that is OE!!! smile

Question 1: How many email accounts do you have setup?

Question 2: Are these POP or IMAP?

Question 3: When you have one of these replies stuck in the outbox, what happens if you go into the outbox and change the FROM address and then press SEND for a second time? Does it still jam?

Check your SMTP Authentication procedures. Mail won't be sent if the login isn't right; it will go to the Outbox.

@mallen:
Thanks a lot for your assistance!
My answers:
1: five
2: POP
3: No difference

For additional information:
I use MailWasher to filter the mails. For that I have to change the server port to 587 (instead of 25) and the smtp serveraddress to smtpauth.bluewin.ch (instead of mail.bluewin.ch). The pop serveraddress is as normal pop.bluewin.ch and the port is 110. I have also changed the whole setup so as I had no MailWasher; the same setup as Opera-Mail has done in his first setup.

@YOYO:
Again thanks a lot for your assistance!
My answer:
I tried (I think wink every SMTP authentification. Password, No password, Automatic, With/without Secure TLS .. No difference.

Im' sure something is wrong and I will follow the step by step instructions from mallan.

Ah - mailwasher. That sounds like it could be causing some confusions.

My suggestion (as part of a test) is to REMOVE mailwasher from the OUTGOING emails. Revert to the standard port 25 and mail.bluewin.ch.

MailWasher is not doing anything useful on the OUTGOING mail for you. There is no point in filtering what YOU are trying to send out. Especially as it sounds like it is causing problems.

(Keep MailWasher on the INCOMING email as it makes sense to use this product to hunt for spam, etc. Especially as it does not seem to be causing you any issues with incoming mail)

-+-+-+-+

Obvious question - can I assume MailWasher is the latest version and fully patched?

-+-+-+-+

SMTP outgoing authentication should be on Auto with NO tick on the Secure TLS. If there is any errors on sending emails, please paste the error messages in here for me to decode.

If you "tried every method" you should of got lots of error messages when using the wrong methods. This is again why I am suspicious of MailWasher.

-+-+-+-+

Have you checked the MailWasher error logs?

-+-+-+-+

Let's get outgoing mail cleanly setup WITHOUT mailwasher and get us successfully sending emails again. Once we have emails flowing, we can then look at MailWasher again.

Oh - and PLEASE change that avatar. It is making me ill. smile

Thanks again. Your help was successful. It was the MailWasher with the dedicated "smtpauth.bluewin.ch" and "port 587" for outgoing mails.

1. I changed to the standard mail.bluewin.ch and port 25, because I agree with you about useless checvk by MailWasher.
2. Last release of MailWasher 6.5.3
3. Outgoing authentication is Auto but with TLS tick, no problems with it.
4. I could not find any error log inside MailWasher, but the error digest was reporting wrong password ... in the two last cases. The digest shows only the last errors, but no large reports.
5. I will not insist to use the outgoing check with MailWasher in future together with OperaMail.

Last but not least:
6. Yes my avatar is not working properly on my user page. It mnake me ill also. But it is glued on Opera. I have an other help queston to eliminate it with an other one or with nothing. No new Photo and no new Avatar are accepted sad(

Great to hear you found an answer. Often these security programs can get a little over the top with their protection. Assuming you already have Anti-Virus on the PC, that will stop you attaching anything nasty to an email anyway.
