10.51 slow to startup
I have a quite old Athlon 1200 machine running Windows XP (SP3) and have used Opera for many years. I have been very disappointed when I upgraded from 10.10 to 10.51 hoping for a better experience. 10.51 is distinctly slower than 10.10 to startup. So slow in fact that when I click on a url link without Opera open, Windows XP reports that the link cannot be found. Opera does open eventually, but it takes so long that the operating system has got fed up waiting and gives the error message. It is clear from other posts on this forum (almost all of which have been closed to further comment) that the upgrade from 10.10 to 10.5x has been poorly handled with major changes and insufficient explanation of these. I experienced many of the problems that others have reported - menu bar disappeared and the new 'O' logo not visible because the tab bar is not automatically displayed on my setup - difficulty reinstating Feeds - and I don't like having to opt out of automatic silent updating every time I update.
I did eventually manage to restore the appearance of 10.51 to the way I like it, but speed remains an issue and I have for the first time ever undone an Opera upgrade and moved back to 10.10. Url links now work again! Opera has always sold itself on speed and I feel that your efforts to add additional features are making it too bloated and adversely affecting the basic browsing performance. I hope you can resolve the issues with 10.51 and that by the time we get to 10.60 I will be able to upgrade and actually get a better experience.
