Need a list of Opera Preferences for Mac
I know that this topic most likely wouldn't help anyone else, or very few... but need a list of Opera Preferences for Mac so I can add/compare/etc with Windows and *Unix preferences for my little <a href="http://76.11.58.186/">Button Site</a>. Provided that there isn't some weird difference that I am unaware of... what works best (I already have a parser setup for it, that works for all versions) is to simply do this:1. Open <a href="opera:config">opera:config</a>.
2. View Source
3. Either "Select All" and copy paste to a document, or File - Save As...
However, this will include your current settings... so, if you are really paranoid (not that I even look) you might not want to, at least not without editing... the values don't matter, it just looks for HTML "labels" and "input type=X"...
Any versions are welcome, the more the merrier (just "Final" versions: 9.64, 10, 10.1, 10.5)... I already use Windows/Linux so I can get those myself, I tried (or thought about it and gave up) using VMWare to boot into MacOS...but... yeah...lol
Or naturally if there are already known lists somewhere, or pre-formatted/cleaned... those are welcome too.
Edit: I guess to be more fair... if anyone needs Windows/Linux lists... you can get mine <a href="ftp://76.11.58.186/Site/Lists/">here</a> or <a href="ftp://76.11.58.186/Site/Lists/External_Lists.zip">all of them</a> (215kb).
Names are: <i>Prefs-OS_OVer.txt</i> ... so: <i>Prefs-Win_10.50.txt</i> ... "New" means new since last version, "Rem"(oved) since last.
The format of the lists are: <i>Section:Preference</i> (not sure why I didn't use <i>Section|Preference</i> easy to change though)
Or any other lists that are there...

According to the FTP and HTTP logs... I haven't had a single Mac visitor (based on UA's)...so really not that important based on "users", I'd just like to do it for "completeness".

Note: don't expect them to show up <a href="http://76.11.58.186/#Pref_List">properly</a> on the site anytime soon...lol, need to modify my parser so it can do version information/comparing, then update the site to show accordingly. Maybe tomorrow.
Edit: Updated <a href="http://76.11.58.186/#External_Lists">External Lists</a> with the simple lists.

Mine started simply because I wanted to create a little page just for my own personal buttons... then just took it way too far...lol, but mine has become more of a "do it yourself" since the preset buttons is a rather small list.
Edit: By "DIY"... I haven't bothered to update the "Tips & Information", but... in the Actions, Icons, Text, and Preferences Lists... you can click on the items. However, Actions, Icons, and Text... are (currently) limited to to the Simple Editor, switching the value for that item... and the Preference list, automatically uses the Advanced Editor (mainly because the "Boolean" ones don't work in Simple Editor) creating a button based on that preference.
Edit2: Partially updated... no version info... not much difference, mostly in the "Printer" section.
9.64 + 10 (Lin/Win) + 10.1 + 10.5 (for all OS's) + 10.52 (Win)
Also notably in "HotlistWindow" section for "ActiveTab"... where Mac uses a "String" but Linux and Windows use an Integer (might be the fault of the devs), and "Mail|Mail Style File" doesn't exist in Lin/Win.
Surprisingly, my <s>stupid little</s> parser (like a 5 minute code job in .Net, lol) still works, for any pref list thrown at it, with one problem it simply assumes if more than one OS has the pref, that all 3 do... not sure how to add versioning though... at least not without making the website itself compare a bunch of lists, that one bit of info is a huge problem, at least if I want to keep the site small...
Edit3: ok guess it will be today... but still no version info... but it has all OS combinations now.

If the preference is available in X version and still in the latest then it's "9.64+"
If it's only available in one version then it's "9.64" no plus...
If it spans a range (that doesn't include newest), then it's "9.64-10.1".
Might add the RGB colors (like 10.5 buttons, or the Opera Releases) to make them more noticeable.
Edit: bit better layout now, and added colors to separate the versions 10.5 10.1 10.0...etc
Changed the Span (Type & Version) to a "Label" with inline-block, and version is it's own Span now inside that, with float:right.
Probably create a bit of a problem with larger fonts, or really small screens though (8pt and 640x480 is still fine)

<a href="opera:config#First Used Version">Install|First Used Version</a>
<a href="opera:config#DevTools Open Attached">User Prefs|DevTools Open Attached</a>
It's safe to say they were, since they are generic settings... but want to make sure
<a href="opera:config#Allow Cross Network Navigation">Network|Allow Cross Network Navigation</a>
<a href="opera:config#Lag Threshold For Animation Throttling">Performance|Lag Threshold For Animation Throttling</a>
<a href="opera:config#Switch Animation Throttling Interval">Performance|Switch Animation Throttling Interval</a>
I assume that "Cross Network" is, since it seems to just be a replacement for "Allow Cross Domain Access".

Edit: Any chance of getting a full list again? There's surprises sometimes, like in this latest build there's an entire new section for Linux "Interface Colors" and a few printer related things which doesn't appear in Windows (latter of which might be in Mac)
<u>New In 10.6</u>:

<u>Removed</u>:
Java|Opera ClassPath
Java|Security Policy
Network|Allow Cross Domain Access
User Prefs|Exceptions Have Stacktrace
Somewhere in the last few builds (haven't been keeping that good of a track) they added: <a href="opera:config#Search Field On Error Pages">User Prefs|Search Field On Error Pages</a>
Geolocation|Send Location Request Only On Change
Does that mean if you uncheck it that your location will be sent whether you change your location or not, or does it mean that it will not be sent even if you change your location?
I cannot find a reference that explains that (or any other) setting in Geolocation. It is missing from the help file. Where is one supposed to find the explanations for the more recent preference settings?
However, I would also assume that it's also not very accurate considering the variables...are variable, Mac Address, IP etc can remain the same, but signal strength (WiFi) can fluctuate even if the PC doesn't move...
As far as new settings go (ie: pretty much everything since 9.64 or so)... is basically "your best guess", some of them can be tested yourself, others people have already tested and might have a blog about it...etc.
But I did forget to update the New/Removed lists for Mac... so, those are updated.

Regarding VM's though... happen to have a reliable ISO? or a search query that would lead me there...lol... I think that's the problem I had when I tried with VMWare last time...

Thats the exact same name of the ISO I used. (Found it using binsearch.)
I might try it in my other PC, which is newer, and more powerful, if I get <i>really</i> bored... but, probably just stick with asking other people for Mac prefs.
I think most of the assumed settings are accurate, and I don't recall any mention of Mac specific things, but you never know...lol
Opera 10.70.9071 (Last 10.70 build)
Opera 11.00.1060 (Latest snapshot as of this post.)
So you're no longer stuck with 10.63, or it was a one time only thing? At least you weren't completely in the dark for Opera 11 (according to your sig).
At school we have mostly windows, and now with the portable version built right into the installer it allows me to stay up to date with that, instead of having to use the stable version of OperaUSB.
We also have some fairly new Macs there, I tend not to use them because of their location and there really aren't any portable apps for Mac (especially Opera), but I finally had some free time (along with actually remembering to do so) to stop by one today and get the files. So, in short, I'll be able to get you the files, but not on any regular basis.
Maybe you'll be lucky and the school will buy some newer ones, then you might be able to buy one of their Intel ones for cheap (although they usually just ship them off to some other school in the same district or to a 1/2/3rd grade where they are likely to be destroyed, lol).
Or, convert your school to using Opera
(although it's probably all tied up in contracts). And I would love to get Opera at least as an option on the computers. The ANGEL site (the new Blackboard, if you know what that is) does prevent Opera from logging in there, but a simple blocking of a js file fixes that. We at least have Firefox/IE8 and Safari/Firefox, so we aren't in the dark era, but it could be so much better.
