Opera for iPhone - legibility issue

There are so many things to like about Opera for iPhone. It's faster than Safari. It has tabs. I really appreciate the effort!

Yet... I keep on going back to Safari.

The main reason is a matter of "initial legibility." Compare the same page, before zooming, side by size with Safari on the left and Opera on the right (see attachment).

As you can see, with Safari, you can read some stuff - like headlines - even before zooming in. But with Opera you can't. You MUST zoom in before you can read anything at all. This is a big drawback because with Safari you have an idea of where you want to start before you zoom. But with Opera, you have to zoom first and then scroll around on the page looking for items of interest.

I've tried different settings, but haven't been able to alleviate the problem.

I know about mobile view of course, but then each page loads at the site banner and you have scroll past that each time to see content.

If this problem were improved I think I would enjoy using Opera more. Especially if there was some way of making it the default browser for the iPhone.
