Way too much sugar

In 1700, the average person consumed about 4 pounds of sugar per year. In 1800, the average person consumed about 18 pounds of sugar per year. In 1900, individual consumption had risen to 90 pounds of sugar per year. In 2009, more than 50 percent of all Americans consume one-half pound of sugar PER DAY—translating to a whopping 180 pounds of sugar per year!

On a spiritual level there is the consideration of gluttony and abstinence from sugar could be considered a fast. On a personnel level I do not consider my abstinence from sugars to be a fast because it is for preventive health reasons. Many people think that I am a diabetic due to my sugar abstinence. Reducing H.F.C.S., that is High Sucrose Corn Syrup, other sugars, and sugar substitutes from our diets will do much to improve our overall health, maintain a healthy weight, reduce tooth decay, reduce type two diabetes and cut down on kidney and pancreas decrease.

Not only is the amount of sugar affecting us, it is the type of sugar. Since the seventies cane sugar has been supplemented by H.F.C.S. H.S.C.S. is absorbed by the body more easily than the cane sugar. H.F.C.S. also goes to the abdominal region. The diet substitutes are problematic because they cannot be broken down by the kidneys or pancreas. Some of the diet alternatives come from coal tar and petroleum by products.

Several years ago I made a conscious choice to give up sugars. It took awhile to get off soft drinks, candy bars, frosted cakes, etc.. when buying Juices I look at the label and if H.F.C.S. is the second or third ingredient I do not purchase or drink or eat it. I am always after my wife to keep the children away from H.F.C.S.

Very difficult to stay away from sugar its practically in everything we eat. And honey as a substitute is not really satisfactory. The older we get the more consious we are of those health issues i think
