Opera 10.51 - Can't open links at www.theregister.co.uk without doing a reload of the page
This happens on my 10.51 install. I had no problems prior to 10.50.To reproduce
1. Open www.theregister.co.uk
2. Click on any news story.
3. Nothing happens.
4. Relaoad the page by clicking the reload icon.
5. Click on the same news story
6. Now it opens fine.
7. Go back to first page and try clicking the same story.
8. Nothing happens.
Any ideas?
The same thing happens on multi-page news stories as well and is mighty annoying...
Confirmed. Strange as is it was OK a couple of days ago.

@blackcoder What happens if you click on a news story link, let the page load, go back then try another news link?
The links don't work for me at that point. Well that's what happened to me just now before I came here. It seems to be intermittent behaviour too which won't help for troubleshooting.

Thanks for confirming Luxor and blackcoder.
Hopefully somebody will have an idea what's going on since it is quite annoying if nothing else...

Sorry, Not exactly the same problem. When I used the reload button I still had the problem after the page had reloaded. It also seemed intermittent.
I have not had the problem so far today, since upgrading to
Version
10.52
Build
3367
This is just an RC at the moment so may have "other" issues.

I don't see a problem at the Register.

It seems to be OK today Pesala. All links are working fine, for me anyway.
But as I stated it seemed to be intermittent so it will take a few visits to see if it reoccurs.

Thanks for the answer Pesala.
Unfortuanltey the problem seem to persist for me at least. I get the feeling that something (Javascript?) is still executing on the page and therefore the links dont work until a refresh.
Does anybody know how to check if there is anything on the page that has not executed (Dragonfly?)?

I noticed the problem there today again.
You know the more I think about it, this problem at the register started after the last browser.js update that fixed the youtube problems some people were having. Probably just a coincidence but I'm no expert on these things so wouldn't know for sure.

@Luxor, I'm quite sure that it started before the browser.js upgrade. I had problems with both YouTube and TheRegister and now YouTube is working as normal (after the update)...
Fair enough, it was just that I hadn't experienced it before that, if I did I have forgotten about it. That happens often though so no worries.

I have had the same problems with Opera running in Linux. They started a few weeks ago and didn't coincide with any browser upgrade. I thought Opera was going wrong and started using Firefox more.
I was glad to stumble upon this thread and discover that others had found the same thing with theregister.co.uk, and that it seems to be just this site causing problems. I prefer Opera generally and tend to use the speed dial rather than Bookmarks.
