Opera 7.50 Preview 6: Crash Test Dummy Edition 2 for Windows available

Opera 7.50 Preview 6 for Windows is available for download. As usual, discuss the new version in opera.beta and in the my.opera.com Beta Testing forum. Please do not distribute the download link directly, but link to the post in opera.beta or in the my.opera.com Beta Testing forum.

Due to the experimental nature of this release, upgrading a previous Opera installation is not recommended. If you'd like to test your mail from a previous release, do the following:

1) Delete the Mail directory in your new installation directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\Opera75\Mail\)
2) Copy your entire Mail directory from your previous installation to your new installation directory

Not following these steps may result in loss of mail!

Download Preview 6:

[url]http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/o750ctd2_3768.exe (build 3768)

Release notes:
- The installer no longer tries to force installation in a new directory, so be careful where you're installing
- Due to all the recent changes in toolbar customization, we've bumped the toolbar version. All old toolbar customization files will no longer work

A detailed list of changes will soon be available at
[url]http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/w750p6.html#detail.

Do you always format your HD before installing new software, alien?

The forum list right here displays strangely (?) in P6 - unless you guys are still changing stuff. On the page that lists threads in a forum (and with the vBulletin style), the columns are suddenly much wider. It used to be that the columns would adjust to the page width, but they aren't any more.

Maybe it is a change to the site, since the showthread page, the newreply page, and the forum index still look the same.

As posted to the list, Remove all completed (transfers) now works, but the Transfers window still doesn't pop up if the panel is disabled.

page bar is really screwed up in P6, it seems, if selected as "show only when needed"----sometimes it sticks on even with 0 or 1 pages open, but if open the panels (F4), the page bar then disappears.....clean installation, too! :frown:

Then I open multiple pages from a bookmark folder from the panel/hotlist, and the pages open, but there is no page bar now..............yucky!!!! :frown:

I have to Shift-F4 to get rid of the panel for the page bar to show now!!!! Egads! What is going on with the page bar and panel/hotlist conflicting?

Hm, I'm using touchpad, so gestures is not an option.
Perhaps some ini tweaking could make the minimize button put opera to rest in the tray?

Open new page does not do so. It clears the excisting page.

Edit: Removed the "hide Opera" button, and open new page works again.

Nice work.
Allthough my cache problem is still not solved. :zip:

Friday, 7. May 2004, 20:33:15

Wfm, having 'close opera' on the status bar and 'new page' on address bar.

Friday, 7. May 2004, 20:34:36

it opens the new page to me ok with or without the hide opera button.
Seems there is some ocasional problems with this "magic" button

Friday, 7. May 2004, 20:49:29

Blah! i noticed why the hide button dissapear  it is partly my mistake.
i put it into the address toolbar(there is the only empty place) but this doesnt affect my previously opened pages. After closing the "improved" pages i actually loose the modifications.
Shouldnt such custumization affect all open windows?

And noticed that refreshing the page of "beta testing" forum resets the state of all visited links even those that do not have new posts. Is it because of the forum or the browser?

Have you tried to restart Opera after adding "hide Opera"?
That's when the problems occured to me.
Tried to add, restart and new page several times. Same problem each time

I copied the mail folder from first Crash Test and now the preview 6 cannot stop receiving duplicate mail. Can anyone tell what it is that's causing this occurrence?

thanks

It sounds like you did a clean installation, coachp.... if so, did you delete the mail folder for CTD2/P6 before copying over your mail folder from CTD1/P5?

I believe that is necessary....someone else, please confirm this!

i use a hosts file to block advertisements. opera will now pop up a "connection closed by remote server" every time it can't connect to an address listed in hosts. i thought removing this was one of the most wanted improvements, not opening more dialogs when trying to browse webpages. as i said before this didn't happen in preview 5.

i found what caused this: "Fixed problem accessing IFRAMEs by Javascript if they're hidden using CSS". i was also using css to block advertisements. will this error dialog ever be removed.

Ctrl + H doesn't work. Can minimize from trayicon, but the shortcut doesn't work.
