Important tip for Opera browser users on dial-up
http://groups.google.com/group/google.public.support.general/browse_thread/thread/2218b3948e5ee27e& other websites have been saying that google wrongly thinks that Opera can't download compressed html files, which means that some pages take longer to download. In fact there's no browser that can't download compressed html files.
If you go to your local google website e.g. www.google.co.uk then select Opera's Tools menu, quick preferences, edit site preferences, then choose 'identify as IE or firefox' in the last tab.
thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't want to damage Opera's reputation with the sudden jump in "IE Users" with dial-up though
