e-mail not sent: Opera doesn't supply fully-qualified hostname when sending e-mail over SMTP

Hello,

I cannot send e-mail with Opera's Mail client, because Opera doesn't include the domain name to the host name in the HELO command when sending e-mail over SMTP. My SMTP e-mail provider rejects them, because without the domain name the hostname is not fully-qualified.

Opera Mail normally findes the fully-qualified hostname in the OS and provides it in the HELO command.

- How does opera generate the fully-qualified hostname from the OS info?
- Is there a way to define a fully-qualified hostname for opera manually?

Below the version information, the error message and my IP Configuration.

Opera version: 10.51
Platform/operating system: Windows 2000

Error message in Error Console:
Internal error [504 5.5.2 <mycomputer>: Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname]

In Control Panel / System / Network Identification:
Full computer Name: mycomputer.t-ipconnect.de

In Command prompt, "ipconfig /all" returns:

Looks like you are behind a router... Question is why is your router IP listed as the DNS server?

Thanks, xidcat, I was able to resove the problem:

Router used: Fritz!box 7113

- Found out DNS Servers by checking the events in fritz.box (in German: Ereignisse):
22.04.10 02:23:39 Internetverbindung wurde erfolgreich hergestellt. IP-Adresse: 87.162.39.159, DNS-Server: 217.237.151.51 und 217.237.149.205, Gateway: 217.0.116.231, Breitband-PoP: BERX46-erx
- Filled in both DNS Server IPs in IP Configuration of network card: Start - Settings - Control Panel - Network and Dial-up Connections - Local Area Connection - Properties - Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) - Properties - Advanced - DNS

See also point 6 in:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-gate.nsf/docid/2001111517454154?Open&src=tranus_con_sl

With this configuration opera adds the Primary DNS Suffix as domain name to the computer name.

After manual configuration of DNS, the fritzbox admin panel cannot be reached under fritz.box, but under IP 192.168.178.1

I was not able to configure the router to forward the DNS configuration of the ISP to my computer in the DHCP request.
