Opera Mobile 10 and the Opera Widgets Mobile Emulator on your desktop
Making sure that your site looks great and works exactly as it should in mobile browsers can often be a tedious process. With Opera Mobile 10 for Windows, Linux and Mac we offer a native application that can be run directly from your desktop machine. And with the integrated Opera Widgets Mobile Emulator, developing mobile optimized widgets has never been easier.( Read the article )

Why Open the Web?
Despite the connecting purpose of the Web, it is not entirely open to all of its users. When used correctly, HTML documents can be displayed across platforms and devices. However, many devices are excluded access to Web content.

Not in this exact form - the closest we have is the Opera Mini simulator at http://www.opera.com/mobile/demo/. I guess a desktop version of that would be useful too.

...although Mini still has to go through the external Opera servers, so you couldn't test local files in the same way...

Confirmed - I tested it, and I get this as well. And I don't get the spike on other sites I've tested using the emulator.
This is most odd.

This actually sort of disappoints me because I was hoping that it would render the way Opera Mini does just because it would then give me some method of debugging that browser (our site does not render correctly there). Any recommendations on how to handle Opera Mini rendering things different from the various other browsers? Media queries alone aren't the answer here because they would affect the other browsers and render incorrectly. I'm contemplating adding a JavaScript hook that appends a class to the body tag with the browser name on it to further refine the media query, but doesn't seem elegant to me.

Help me make this product the Russian-speaking and correct: See the picture posted at:
url: "http://cid-107b0a527799298b.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/Error/emu%5E_OperaMobile.jpg"
Is it possible to somehow use the keyboard (in English and Russian keyboard layouts) for the entire Windows XP
(I want to use the UMPC VILIV s5)? Ready to buy.
Thank you!
We can perfectly run all kinds of apps from the debian repo's, but these tiny things can't handle a full-fledged browser like Firefox or even Epiphany. Opera Mini or Opera Mobile would be great.
Specs of these things:
- Ingenic Jz4730 400MHz SoC with MIPSel architecture.
- 2x 64MB DDR2 RAM (non-upgradable).
- Resolution of 800x480 on a 7-inch screen.
- Qwerty keyboard and touchpad.
As you can see, in fact these things have the specs of a smartphone, but they run Debian Etch. It would be great if we could get Opera Mini (or Opera Mobile) working.
1- download the normal deb package
2- $ sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
3- $ sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture OperaMobileLinux_35.deb
4- $ sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libopera.so /usr/bin/
5- $ operamobile
Enjoy!

The deb is only for i386. (I forced the install for fun, but regardless got exit messages from both methods when running).
"bash: ./operamobile: No such file or directory"
OR
"Failed to execute child process "operamobile" (No such file or directory)"
I checked out the shell scripts as well for shell execution. Nothing seems to happen when I try to execute the operamobile binary (when using the tar.gz download). I also made file executable and in case that was it.
Looks great on windows though. Very slick, love the code reuse!
Going to keep looking into the Linux install. Appreciate any help on the install.
Cheers,
Brent
