Opera & Inline PDF

Hi all,

i'm using Version 10.51 and have a problem with inline PDFs. History: I'm searching for PDF-papers at ebscohost and when i found something, it will open a new page with the pdf in inline mode (using Adobe plugin). Now i have serveral problems
1) i cannot click on any links outside the adobe plugin.
2) when i push the back button, opera hangs and will not close. I have to kill it.
3) when i enter a new adress it just quits.

Don't know if it's a problem of the plugin or opera. Just want to mention it.

PC is WinXP SP3, Plugin is from Adobe Acrobat 8.

Regards,

Read this thread.
Seems to be solved by updating Acrobat or using a better PDF reader.

I can't see how you can blame Acrobat 8 when it worked fine in the Older versions of Opera.
Something has been changed in the new version, and that change has broken it.

...and yes I know Acrobat is rubbish, but some of us have to use it.
It comes with CS3 and will all know how expensive Adobe software updates are.

Opera 10.52 should solve this problem. If you want to solve it right now you should indeed upgrade to the latest Adobe Reader version (which is recommended anyway for security and performance reasons).

No, it's still happening in 10.53 with the latest Adobe Reader builds (Windows 7 x64 Home Premium)

The workaround is in Adobe Reader itself.

Edit menu. Preferences. Internet. Uncheck box 'display PDF in Browser' - and then OK all the way back out of your preferences.

I am still having problems with Opera 10.53 crashing on closing a tab with Ctrl W, when using the Adobe Reader 9.3.2 plugin, but not with the latest test build of 10.54 (build 3386).

Using the external viewer is currently the best solution for those obliged to use Adobe software — for others, the best solution is to use the PDF-XChange viewer plugin, though that doesn't allow you to close a tab with the keyboard.
