Import from .EML format?

Hello,

I have few GB worth of e-mails in Windows Mail/Windows Live "*.eml" format.

Is there any tool/plug-in/process to get these messages imported into Opera mail client, preferably preserving/reflecting the folder structure?

Being googling for the solution for a while, but haven't found any yet...

Welcome to the My Opera community!

You could install ruby and use this script to convert multiple eml files to a single mbox file. Then, you can import the mbox file into Opera via File -> import and export (or O Menu -> settings -> import and export) -> import mail -> generic mbox import.

Or, you can look for other free eml to mbox converters.

(An eml file is very close to an mbox file with a single message in it. The mbox file has "From - date/time' line at the beginning of it though. You can ctrl + s in Opera to save a message as an mbox file. Then, open it with a text editor and compare it with an eml file in a text editor. You should then see how you can manully convert eml files to mbox. A converter will automate things for you.)

Also, if you can import the messages into another client like Thunderbird or Outllook Express, you can use Opera's Thunderbird or Outlook Express importer.
