How to block connections to spy domain 1e100.net

I get mass amount of tcp connections to subdomains from 1e100.net when opening youtube for example.
I already tried to block the domain from opera options but it is not working(Tools/preferences/advanced/content/clocked content).
I also have "Fraud Protection" disabled.

Tried under windows xp sp3
Latest stable opera 10.51 and latest development version opera 10.52 Build 3370
Connections checked with: sysinternals/microsoft tcpview

Thanks

Your best bet would be to block it at the firewall/router/hosts file/etc level...

To block it in your Hosts file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) you can simply add a line like:

127.0.0.1 1e100.net
-or-
1.0.0.1 1e100.net
etc, etc...

No idea what firewall or router you do or don't have, so... that config is up to you (it's been ages since I tried to use Windows Firewall to do anything, but should be easy enough if that's all you use)

It's not a spy domain, it's Google! Google owns and runs Youtube, that's why you get the connections. If you block the connections, you probably can't use Youtube anymore.

So, google can't be corrupt and spy people? Is what they are doing smile

Sure they can like anyone else. But like I said, that domain is Google's and it is used for Youtube videos and many other things. You can block it, but that might make it impossible to use some of Google's services. Like Youtube. Why don't you try to block it and see what happens. Opera's content blocker won't do. You could try to use a hosts file or even a firewall. But I wouldn't recommend it.

Anyone could spy on people. If "cautious" or paranoid enough, we would have to block everyone and make the whole internet useless.

If people would really care about privacy, service providers would get blocked by most people and they would have to get other ways to get money instead of spy.

Anyway, shouldn't "blocked content" work to block this?

No, flash is making the connection, Opera can't block that.

I see, I haven't had time to view the connections, but I know how this happens, once flash was sending identifying info in other video service provider.

I guess I will have to install a firewall, or filter with custom dns servers.

Thanks.

Or just avoid YouTube.

It is more than youtube I don't remember statistics but with ads, analytics and other services they provide, almost everything leads you to 1e100.net, including this forum.
