Move Opera cache files to scratch drive for better speed
I'm running Win7 and Opera 10.51 - with IE I can move location of Temp Internet Files folder to another drive. Why do this? My C-drive has limited space left and I have another drive which is smaller but super fast. I use this as a scratch drive for video, etc. Browsing with IE greatly improved when moved Temp Internet folder to the faster drive. Same improvement in system speed when I moved Temp folders for both the Win system and all user profiles. Moving these folders keeps C-drive from needing frequent defrags and getting filled up. Could we have the same option in Opera?Since I started using Opera a few months ago, my C-drive is almost filled to capacity. I also read some other forum posts about Opera's cache file becoming extremely large. I unsuccessfully tried to locate it, but for now have lowered my cache file size. Will see if that causes any other unwanted behavior. If it was on my "scratch" drive it wouldn't matter how big it got (well almost).
Thanks
Try these two settings. You might have to edit them directly in operaprefs.ini while Opera is closed (but edit them in Opera first, otherwise they won't show up in ..\profile\operaprefs.ini).
