Quote, Bold & Italics functions aren't inserted where they should be.

When using the Quote, Bold & Italics features, the symbols (whatever they are called) are either after the text if you add the text first, or before if you add the text after, not between as they should be (surrounding the text. 90% of the forms get this correct, but Opera and a gfew others don't. This isn't new. Would someone address this?

Example coping the last sentence;

Removing the menu bar is the same as blocking access to a vehicle engine by removing the hood access.
No wonder Opera continues to loose users.

Thank you............

You click on any of the three, the cursor is placed after the function, not between the start and end of the function symbols. mad

Come on guys.

I'm having trouble repeating the problem here. If I select the text first, it works fine. If I don't select text first, but enter text in the dialogue, e.g. italic text the italic text is selected ready to apply another attribute, e.g. bold italics.

Using Opera 10.51 build 3315.

Looks as you just did. The 1st paragraph of your reply should of been a quote.

Click any of those buttons and the cursor is placed AFTER the symbols, NOT between where it should go. You have to reposition the cursor so any text you C&P or type will be included within those symbols.

If I highlight a phrase, then choose any of those three, it works ok, but if I wanted to do a Bold and Italics, I have to re-highlight the text since the cursor is placed after the last entry (which I just had to do for the words "AFTER" and "NOT" in the above paragraph.

I was just using it to test the buttons. If I click a button, I get a dialogue in which to enter text. The text that I enter is then automatically entered between the codes, and the whole lot is selected, ready to apply another attribute.

bold, italic, large, red, Georgia text.

Maybe this issue is related to your OS and/or Opera version?

I'm not certain if they fixed My Opera or not. I know the functions work fine in the latest snapshot (10.52 RC3. build 3370), but not sure if that was the webmaster or the software developers ...

It works fine in Opera 10.51 or 10.52, but is broken in Opera 10.1

@ Videobruce. Please put this basic information in your signature, it will save us a whole lot of time. OS, Opera version, and basic hardware specs.

Using Opera 10.51 build 3315 and Opera 10.52 build 3370.

Why should it be browser or version specific? It should be in the board coding and should work exactly the same for all browsers and versions. It's simple BBCode, not some advanced scripting.

Thank you. It shouldn't be a browser issue, as I stated 80% (or so) of the dozens of forums I visit work ok (using mostly vBulletin), it's just a few that have this issue apparently due to the software they use. Unless there is some weird conflict between Opera and the forum software where vBulletin works ok (and most others) but this doesn't.

If I click a button, I get a dialogue in which to enter text. The text that I enter is then automatically entered between the codes

Not here. I have to reposition the cursor.

decodedthought; confirmed the issue.

I'm not picking on the forum, or the software, there are plenty of forums that are much worse regarding logging in etc.

Opera 10.10 and Opera 10.5x handle selections differently, when they redid the board code to support 10.5x they must have removed support for the older versions. sad Sorry, but other forums are off-topic here - this section is only for issues related to My Opera.
