Auto save / export bookmark files and auto filling of dialogs

Hello,

Iam currently looking for a method to save the bookmarks file automatically after adding a new link to it. Cause I know, that the actual file on the harddrive is only updated after Opera has been closed. That's a pretty bad behavior and I want Opera to update the file after every change.

My first approach was do design a button for adding Bookmarks like that firstly adds the new link and secondly calls "Export Bookmark" to save the current file.

The problem is, when calling the Export Bookmark function, an Dialog opens to enter the filename and to press the save button. So is there a way, that this dialog is filled with a filename automatically and afterwards the enter button is pressed ?

I have already tried something like:

Export bookmarks,"E:\bookmarks.adr" & Save
or
Export bookmarks,"E:\bookmarks.adr" & Ok
or
Export bookmarks,"E:\bookmarks.adr" & Click default button

but nothing worked ?? Is there any other solution for that problem ?

Thank you in advance..

I see your problem.. When I fiddle with things Opera crashed 100% every time trying to use "Export bookmark & delay, 100 & paste" or similar. I guess it cant work because its not part of Operas UI.. sad

ah I see.

Cause my main problem is, that I want to synchronize my bookmarks between several Opera sytems on different machines without using Opera Link.
For that reason I need to update the bookmarks.adr file everytime something changes and not only at the exit of opera.
Therefore I wanted to create a button.

Maybe there is some different possibility for sychronizing bookmarks over a own server ???

Possibly ..

opera:config#OperaSync

http://dev.opera-wiki.com/Opera%27s_Configuration_File_Explained#OperaSync_SyncDataProvider

Beats me how this works though!

Well,

I already found that one in the configs. But actually there is neither a description on the value nor you do not know what kind the servers needs to do. Cause it is operas server system and I guess they have a own protocol for talking and synchronizing they won't publish.....

So in that case it won't be possible to use that interface. My idea was to update the local bookmarks file everytime something is changed and the file is synchronized with my own SQL server. Any other system would do the same. But this only works when I can update my local bookmark file.....

Other idea:

1. Create a button that adds a new bookmark and runs a javascript that adds that bookmark to the own SQL server as well.
2. Write external program that receives the bookmarks from the sql server and writes a *.adr file
3. Write batch job that runs sync program (2) every-time before Opera starts.

Advantage:
Bookmarks are stored on our own server under your control accessible from everywhere.
All opera installations can be synchronized

Disadvantage:
no live synchronization, only on a restart of opera ...

Any other ideas ?
