Yeah, I noticed the same thing with my archos 5 IMT. To get it to run I had to change the file extension from .wgt to .zip, then drag and drop the file into the widgets folder via USB or through your UPnP network. The Widget will run... But the widget is usually really odd looking, either it hangs off the screen, or it is incredibly tiny to where you would need a needle to push the x button, ect.... you get the point... At some point (soon) I will rebuild some widgets (and upload them) so it will work correctly on the archos 5 IMT, so we can make use of these limited devices....
To change the file extension (if you can not see the .wgt) in XP ---> Start > my computer > Tools > Folder options > View tab > uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" > click "ok". Then you should be able to change it to .zip.
