Bad performing "is in view" check?
10.52 Final and all older 10.5x builds expose sometimes a very strange scrolling behavior. (Under Win7)E.g. http://devfiles.myopera.com/articles/1661/widgetstyling_phone.html
Resize your window to make the "phone" NOT fir your display vertically. Now scroll a bit. (Best use the scrollbars to avoid influences of other things.)
It's jittering.
Now resize your window so that the whole "phone" fits your screen but there is still a scrollbar.
Scrolling is now smooth...
I have found similar behavior on many places. And I think it's quite an issue...
Using Windows 7 64Bit SP1 and of course Opera
