"Old Style" widget mode option
As much as I was looking forward to standalone widgets in 10.5, running widgets standalone is turning out to be more frustration than I had anticipated. One of the main reasons is just that most of the current widgets were developed to run as part of Opera and the standalone configuration makes them misbehave compared to 10.10. Most of the widgets I've grown used to using were ones that worked well running side by side with Opera but now as a standalone their clunky and difficult to use (Time and Date especially http://widgets.opera.com/widget/6034/).
Standalone widgets also creates more overhead for running multiple widgets side by side (http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=435201)
Standalone widgets also are trickier to debug with Dragonfly (http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=485201)
I think a reasonable solution would be to have an option on the installer dialog that allowed you to choose between installing the widget into Opera or installing as a standalone app.
Standalone widgets can be a great thing depending on the widget. It just that others work better when integrated into Opera. Opera users should have a choice.
I would prefer that as well. Although it will never happen. Opera's all about them becoming "first class citizens", although I always respect companies a whole lot more when they give more mod. options on programs.
Dear opera Devs, would you please to turn back "widgets in one opera process" , by just making a switch to that mode, to make it "optional"
A would recommend 3 different modes -
1. Separated processes, like is now.
2. One separated process per all widgets (one per all widgets, one per own opera browser process).
3. In the same process with opera, like was before.
Because a lot of people doesn't want to see 20> processes in task manager because of just you wanted it (((.
I hope you'll hear voices of opera customers.
Thank you.
