How To Bookmark Link On Page? Explained, thank you Bug?
I used to be able to simply right click and bookmark links while hovering over a link. Instead I can only bookmark the page that lists the link, or by opening the link and then bookmark it.Thoughts? What am I missing?
If I try to even bookmark links in this new posting, it just wants to bookmark this New Forum Topic page I am typing on, not the Opera Browser link, etc.
Presumably you are clicking "Bookmark Link..." right? And it's still trying to bookmark the parent page, not the link itself?
Which OS and Opera version are you using? And are you using the standard menu setup, or a custom one? If it's a custom one, then how long have you had it? (made it for 10, but are now using 10.5 etc...)

Are you sure you're not mistaken about this? When I click "Bookmark Link" it does bookmark the link. However, it names the bookmark the same as the parent page, not the linked page. Maybe that's what you're seeing? Click "Details" in the bookmarking pop-up to see what the actual bookmarked address is.
Example:

As you can see, it's bookmarking the link (my profile page, since I right-clicked my name), but it's naming the bookmark the same as the parent page (this thread).

I don't think I am mistaking how I am right clicking to bookmark a link on a page. In the attached screenshot is what happens when I right click over the location of Sweden under your username and it is not trying to book rghtclcklnksweden.JPG mark that link but the thread page itself.
Here is what my system reads as

I am running no custom menus I am aware of. It is a Logitech mouse but right clicking and bookmarking hovered links was working fine in 10.51 (last week)
Thanks for the replies

I can assure you I am seeing Bookmark Link and not trying to bookmark the entire page
Thanks for your thoughts

Ah, ah so says the blind man but it used to bookmark with the name of the link, not the page name.
What brought this to my mind is that in watching Ebay auctions, I often go to bookmark a sellers store or other items and it is listing the new bookmark as the page I am on. So, I now need to rename a bookmarked link whenever I want to do that.
That is a troublesome difference that affects not just my window shopping but historical research and other pages I spend a lot of time with.
Thanks again

If you didn't click on Details, you don't know what it is bookmarking - only what name it is giving it. RoadHazard appears to be correct - it bookmarks the right URL, but assigns the name from the page title and not the link text. (I would file that as a bug, but it is only the name of the bookmark which is the issue.)
