moving all my customizations/settings to new OS install?
I hope this is the right forum - if not, I apologize in advance.I have 2 OS installs on one hard drive. Windows 7 Enterprise x64 and Windows XP Professional x64. I am unable to get into the XP install at all, no safe mode, no normal boot, nothing. In the partition with the XP install, I have Opera 10.50, with a bunch of custom stuff (custom buttons for tab layout, various keyboard shortcuts, and so on). Without being able to get into the XP install at all, how do I move *all* of my settings and customizations to my new opera 10.52 install on the Windows 7 partition? I am also interested in moving bookmarks and sessions and userjs.
The partitions are on the same physical hard drive, so while in Windows 7, I can see and access all files under the old XP partition.
I'd appreciate any help.
this should work
copy the following folder to a thumb drive or cd from your xp partition
C:\documents and settings\<your name>\opera
*note* the path in xp might be different its been a while since i have used it
then boot to Win7 and copy the folder from your thumb drive/CD to
C:\Users\<your name>\AppData\Roaming\Opera

I have 2 Opera folders, but not exactly in that location:
\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Opera
and
\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera
Which one should I copy?
should be the first one. check inside there should be files named "bookmarks.adr" , "contacts.adr" , "wand.dat".
u could always test it to make sure tho
shut down opera
rename the bookmarks.adr to bookmarks1.adr
then load opera, if you still have all of your bookmarks when you load opera back up then you have the right folder.
Going off of Vista's directory (seen on opera:about) I assume it would be similar for 7.
With that said, I believe the files from ...\Application Data\Opera (XP) would be moved to ...\AppData\Roming\Opera (Win7)
and
...\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera (XP) to ...\AppData\Local\Opera (Win7)
Hope I'm right in my assumption and the transition works out.
