how to use the "bookmark all open pages" command

Is it a bug or a feature? Anyway, it's a bit of a nuisance and many people have wondered what happens when you initiate the command. The bookmarks never end up where you expect them to be. I decided to open a new thread here.

I think I found out what happens(!?): When Opera is opened in a new window it locks in the bookmark folder you last used in the last session. So no matter what you do, i.e. which bookmark you select during a session, it always goes into the lastly activated bookmark of the lastly closed session.

This probably depends on the start options you pick though (I always use "continue..."). Other options will presumably react differently, but all they have in common is: You can't change the folder to "bookmark all open pages" during a session. The destination folder for "bookmark all open pages" is set and cannot be modified for the duration of a newly started session/window. (You are invited to describe what exactly happens with other start options than "continue..." in the comments here.)

You are advised to drag'n'drop immediately after every multiple bookmarking, in order to empty the fixed destination folder. Because sorting out after multiple bookmarkings with different topics is a pain.

Of course you can always save all opened tabs as a session. But this is something quite different as you cannot reopen single tabs or URLs.

This problem still exists today even though Opera 10.6 has come out of beta. This problem doesn't really exist for me in 10.1 though so I was happy until 10.6 became a standard update for even Linux. I've observed this problem across both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux. I hope this problem eventually gets fixed because while we can still save sessions for multiple tab savings, sessions don't get synced through Opera Link which is very important for me since I use Opera Link between multiple computers/platforms and my phone.

Usually when I open up Opera I choose the start with Speed Dial option, but same problem exists in the goto homepage option also.

Sorry, but that just doesn't work for me. It always dumps the bookmarks in the last bookmarked location (say I bookmark on the main "Bookmarks" page, it will put them all there.

To think of it, this feature has never worked correctly for me.

Anyone else have this issue?

I used this feature for a long time until the browser version 10.10. After her, never worked, nor in win xp, not on ubuntu. It's a bug that I reported (DSK-296 161) still in version 10.54. But nothing was done to correct this problem. down
