Opera 10.52 refuses to start on Mac OS X 10.3.9
So up until this morning I had been running a version of Opera 10.4 and having no problems with it on my work Mac. But I decided to give the new update a try since it claims to work with Mac OS X Panther, and now I have no Opera whatsoever. When I installed the new update it replaced the old version, and when I attempt to launch it, the icon appears in my tray, bounces twice and then vanishes. No error messages, nothing, it just refuses to start. I tried restarting, reinstalling, reinstalling to a different folder, but no luck. The last time I had this issue was with Firefox, because my Mac did not meet the system requirements for their latest versions. Since I couldn't upgrade, I slowly lost a ton of compatibility with websites like Facebook and YouTube, which is why I switched to Opera in the first place.
For now I'm going to go back and try to reinstall an older version of Opera, but I wanted to put this out there to see if anyone was having the same problem or possibly bring it to someone's attention (since Opera doesn't seem to offer direct support, apparently?).
There is help available on how to troubleshoot and fix this issue in this thread
I too can not get Opera 10.52 to launch at all on 10.3.9 (Panther). I've done the things mentioned in the other thread, but to note this is not a 'crash', the application simply never launches. I've downloaded the DMG 3 times from different mirrors. I can put back 10.10 and it works fine. 10.52 doesn't give an error, never invokes a crash report, and never even appears in the dock.
@danaleks: Did I miss something? Is there a version of Opera 10.5x that is supposed to run on OS X 10.3.x (Panther)?

If 10.5x isn't supposed to run on Panther, then they need to update the System Requirements:

Opera 10
OS X Panther (10.3) or higher on an Intel- or PowerPC-based system.
