Opera 10.53 RC1 for Windows and Mac

A new build to test already: http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/

A crash was reported as a security issue yesterday, and we are still investigating the issue. However, we do have a fix ready for testing already. This build also fixes a freeze on Google Maps, and an issue with custom distributions of Opera.

For those unsure, it does include a comparable build for UNIX - but that's not yet considered an RC (or even beta).

Rocker gestures still open the context menu on Mac OS X... Makes them completely unusable, and if you're used to them like me, a big big annoyance sad

I can confirm that, I tried it your way (by ticking 'Allow window with no tabs', for me it's just the other way round).

Another bug that came with 3370, I think:
Ctrl + click on an image to save it. Then change the name in the dialog window, but without typing an extension. That produces an extensionless file.

Look at the shots. If I click 'Save' in the first case, everthing is okay. But if go on the second way, I have to add the extension myself.

okay, I had reported a bug (DSK-296199), that youtube fullscreen mode always crashes when using flash player 10.1RC2. I found out, that this is not an Opera or Flash issue. Seems that the graphics driver (ATI Radeon HD4850, Catalyst 10.4a, Vista) had problems with the hardware-acceleration of Flash 10.1. I installed another driver (Catalyst 8.74 beta) and problem is gone. so, nevermind bigsmile.

Problems with menu fade-in on www.opera.com smile).
During fade in, the bottom part of the menu seems to be animated independently of the rest of the menu.
Opera 10.53 RC1, Windows Vista, can anyone confirm?

1.Problem about dynamic images: Opera 10.52, 10.53 only display dynamic images(.gif) as static images(.jpg, .bmp,...). For example: see: . This is a dynamic image!!!

2.Problem about plug-in: Opera very badly display window media player object. Sometimes displays, sometimes nothing...
3.Problem about the page source code editor: when I search a keyword, source code editor does not highlight my results. That's very difficult to see where they're found.

I have only one question for developers. Why can't you delete option Voice(Голос)because it doesn't work at all!! Or make it works! I think this is not very hard for you to delete it. Hope that You will fix this in final Opera 10.53:)

why should they delete it? its "not in" anyway - you have to download it separate as plugin, so its "removed" already^^

and the notab-no mousegesture - its so "special" - should be probably fixed sometime, but its not "deadly", dont you agree?

Now I tried your bug your way, but can't confirm it. Here it's working perfectly. I tried it on png, gif, and jpg.
In my case "filename field" doesn't contain extension by default.

There's a Flash overlay with butterflies blocking clicks. Happens in all browsers. You need to click the cross symbol that appears somewhere around Warszawa (although strangely enough it's not present on your screenshot?) to close it.

It highlights only one instance at a time. And highlight color is very light gray, making it useless. There should be some contrast.

XP Pro SP3.
Maybe having extensions visible (explorer > tools > folder options) affects that, but I haven't seen any issues in previous builds.

i don't know if the problem's just on my side or not, but ever since installing 10.53 (then the newest beta, downgrading to 10.52, installing a completely fresh copy of 10.53, none of them helped) some pages started rendering horribly wrong. mainly forums based on smf or phpbb software. some of the fonts got messed up, and the frames from which the forum is built get randomly resized to really huge proportions, either vertically or horizontally, possibly related to the font issue.

resizing the whole window up and down fixes the scale thing, but not the font. after reloading the page the problem returns.

edit: this is more less how it looks like:

sometimes the scale of the boxes they appear in will randomly change to ridiculous sizes.

Your bold text is being printed in a serif font, while the "normal" text is in a sans serif font. The weird spacing can be common if Zoom is set to a strange value or minimum font size is too large. I think I'd try a "profile reset" (deleting your operaprefs.ini file while Opera is closed) to make sure things are at default settings ...

the thing is, there's no such file on my pc. i did a search on my entire c drive (hell, afterwards on all of my hard drives) and it only found a operaprefs_default.ini which is almost blank. it only has this in it:

[User Prefs]
Language File={Resources}locale\en\en.lng
Language Files Directory={Resources}locale\en
[System]
Multi User=1 ; If enabled Opera will use Windows profiles to store individual user settings

And you told it to include hidden files and folders?

If using Opera, go to opera:about to see where your preferences are saved.

i was sure i did, but apparently not. renamed it and moved, but it didn't help at all. other than losing all my customization and tabs the problem was still there.

edit: uhh... nevermind. i'm not sure why, but it suddenly stopped happening. it might have been something unrelated to opera that was causing it.
to make it less into a wild goose chase, there's another bug i remember appearing for few versions now.

whenever you load a large image, it will eventually stop updating itself and stay only partially displayed until it's completely loaded. only then it'll instantly appear as full.

the images are also not scaled correctly in zoom values higher than 100%. they're often displaced a bit, usually to the left, meaning there's a 1 pixel-thick line of the left side on an image appearing on the right side.

another bug that's been annoying me for a while is how sometimes the adblocker doesn't work right. it's been a problem for a while, and it still happens in the newest beta.

sometimes when i try to add an ad link to it by clicking it, it hides the ad, but once i press done it gets unhidden and removed from the list like i never did anything. for example, one ad from the gamefaqs (http://ds.serving-sys.com/BurstingRes/Site-245/Type-0/148251c8-63ea-4f7f-a91f-e97d067cadc1.jpg) does that to me when i try to add http://ds.serving-sys.com/BurstingRes/* as a filter.
