Server name completion broken in 10.52?
Why doesn't server name completion work anymore? One of the many little, but oh so valueable, things that've always made Opera special. From http://help.opera.com/Mac/10.52/en/network.html#completion :
When you enter a single word (for example "opera") in Opera's address field, Opera will:
Look for a bookmark nicknamed "opera"
Look for a computer in your local network called "opera"
Attempt server name completion by adding prefixes (such as "www") and suffixes (for example "com") to look up "www.opera.com"
Despite what the documention says this doesn't seem to work anymore. If I type "opera" in the address field and press enter I get the Google search results for "opera".
Is it a configuration issue on my end? I mean, the settings are still in the preferences so I would expect it to work.

It seams like our documentation haven’t been properly updated for 10.50. Thank you for pointing out this problem. I have sent a correction note to our documentation team.
If you would like to use the old style domain auto-completion instead of your default search engine, you must include a forward slash at the end. This will trigger the old behavior. For example “opera/” with use the old auto-completion where as “opera” will search using your default search provider.

This "solution" is NOT what we want. I can get the same result when I click on Ctrl+Enter, which is why I HATE Internet Explorer.
To reach www.opera.com in the old system, I had to type:
o p e r a [Enter] < 6 keystrokes
Now I have to type
o p e r a [Ctrl+Enter] < 7 keystrokes
or, as suggested:
o p e r a / [Enter] < 7 keystrokes
What bothers me the most is not the number of keystrokes. It is that when I type opera, I want to go to the Opera website, not the Google website. Why should I have to remember that I have to type a slash at the end of a website name? I dont want to go to Opera/, I want to go to Opera.
That is the major problem. If you want to give people the option, give them the option, but don't eliminate the easier way to do things, or you will turn into M!.

The documentation have been updated (only English, other languages will be updated as the translation becomes available).
This is a change in Opera 10.5. There are other threads phrasing how good this feature is. I was personally against it to start with, but adding the forward slash works for me. It is a tiny change of habit, but I end up using search more when I am not sure about the URL (which is when I use the auto-completion feature).

Sorry, but I disagree.
There was a vote for this, and it came as 78% in favor of continuing the way it was.

That is a huge thread showing that the change introduced to 10.50 was NOT liked by 4 out of 5 voters. It puzzles me that it still hasn't returned to the old use that is preferred by an overwhelming majority of users. Or at least that the OPTION of going back is not available.
I regularly use Opera on three different computers. When upgraded the first one to 10.50, I was disappointed at what is a glaring problem for me. That is the only reason that I have not updated Opera on my other two computers.
Since I upgraded that first computer to 10.50, I have not gotten used to the change. For me, it has been a constant "doh! going to google again?!"
Luckily, I have found the topics where a workaround is provided that doesn't involve adding a slash.

Yeah, I noticed the other threads after having calmed down, sorry for starting another.
But, the change seems very puzzling and from what I can see there are more people preferring the old way. Are the real reason for the change explained anywhere? Generating more search revenue or just being more like other browsers? And also, not giving old users a way of keeping the old way is unlike Opera.
Zbignich, have you found a workaround that works without the slash and still respects the Server name completion preferences?
