Interface and Behavior Issues in 10.52

Opera 10.52 was redesigned to provide a more native Mac-like feel to the application. In many ways Opera succeeded - Opera's default color scheme and appearance look more like Safari (which is subjectively a good or bad thing) and Growl support has been added (which is worthy of much praise and celebration).

However, some things seem a little rough around the edges. I'd like to confirm that others are seeing some of the same issues that I am. None of these are intended as criticism; the move to make Opera feel more native on each platform is very welcome. I think that on the Mac platform we have very high expectations of how the GUI looks and performs, so this is intended to find and narrow down legit issues to be reported to Opera for feedback and/or correction.

Here's what I'm finding:

1) Gap in the side bar (see attached screenshot). This didn't exist in 10.10. Not sure if it's intentional, but it feels awkward.

2) Misaligned mail icon (not sure how else to describe it - see attached screenshot)

3) Random switching of fonts in mail. Back in 10.10, plaintext used to render in some font - Times New Roman or Arial, I'd guess. Now it's in a very jagged, Terimanal-esque font. While this isn't terrible for composing emails, I find that received emails seem to randomly use the jagged font or Arial. While it's possible that the difference is due to people's email accounts or webmail clients specifying a font or not, it's pretty distracting to keep going between fonts. Moreover, this wasn't an issue in 10.10 - seemingly all fonts were the same, unless someone specified a different font.

4) Awkwardly large "reply" button in Mail. I'm guessing that this is a new icon being used that could do with some tweaking:

5) Text entry boxes that have white spilling out. I've seen this in a few different boxes, and it's a bit of an eye sore (these may require you to zoom in to see white, particularly if your monitor has poor contrast):

6) The new multi-functional search box allows you to select a search engine. However, while clicking on a new search engine will change the engine that the box searches with, the selection box does not disappear. Perhaps this is intentional behavior, but it feels awkward.

7) In 10.10, when opening a link in a new tab that had focus, the new tab would open and would have focus immediately. Now, the tab appears and it feels that there's about a second (or slightly less) before the new tab has focus. This seems to be due to a redrawing issue - the new tab technically does have focus, but the contents of what you were viewing are not cleared until a second or two later.

8) Opera always seems to have focus. Open a Finder window, or even go into Dashboard, and move the mouse around. If Opera is in the background, I notice that elements on a webpage will highlight and the mouse will briefly change to the "link pointer hand" if you mouse over links. Other Mac OS X applications do this to a certain extent, but never when Dashboard is opened. Opera is doing it to an extreme, and it's pretty distracting.

Let me know if you're experiencing the same or similar issues, and if you've spotted any of your own, let us know.
