[DSK-296535] first character disappears when editing speed dial address

I'm using 10.53 build 6328 on Ubuntu 9.10.

When editing the address of a speed dial box (right click the box, select edit, then start typing in the address box), the first character entered disappears when the suggestions list pops up.

It was a bright, cold day in April...
