[Unix 10.53 b6328] Toolbar/interface issues
I tried to customize the toolbars in Opera now, and ran into some problems- Fast forward with mouse buttons doesn't work when the address bar is hidden. This bug appears when the browser is restarted after you remove the address bar.
- It is not possible to remove the Opera-button, even if you add it to another toolbar. So if you do that, you have to either reset the toolbar to it's defaults or edit an ini-file to remove it.
- Opera does not remember which toolbars that's shown when you switch tabs. This applies to some of the toolbars, not all. I tried to remove the address bar and the status bar, and added the navigation bar. When I switched to another tab, the address bar was the only toolbar show. The status bar was the only one in the same state as last tab, hidden. The navigation bar was show, but was now gone again. The address bar was hidden, but appeared again. New tabs that are opened does show the correct toolbars.
- Tooltips for addresses is shown if status bar is hidden, even though the status field is shown in another toolbar
- If you press on a item in the context menu that's expandable or deactivated, the context menu disappears.
- Sometimes, pressing "Remove from toolbar" on a toolbar element doesn't work.
OS: Ubuntu 9.10, x86_64
1. What mouse action are you using? This is probably customizable ...
2. Or hide the mini-toolbar that it is located on (the pagebar head), or of course enable the menu bar.
3. The address bar is inside the tab, as such hiding the address bar only hides the currrent tab's address bar (though new tabs would open with no address bar). It's always been that way. Likewise the navigation bar is part of the tab too - the status bar is not.
4. Known, it was designed that way. The status bar - not the status field - is what hides URLs from tooltips.
6. "Sometimes"? Other than the O button, give an example.

Thanks for your response.
1. I'm holding down left-click while pressing right-click. It also affects mouse gesture to the right.
2. I'm not talking about the Opera-button in the default location. I mean if you add the Opera-button to another toolbar.
3. So what should I do if I want to use another toolbar as address-bar (the address bar is so big, I want to save space). It could at least be a button somewhere that updated the toolbars in all the tabs. And I can't see why someone would want different toolbars on different tabs. Then you would have to change the visible toolbars all the time. Don't think anyone does that.
4. Are there any plans to change this? Or at least an option to disable the address-tooltips, but keep the title-tooltips. The address-tooltips is just annoying.
6. When I removed all the items from the navigation bar (because I wanted to use it to another thing), sometimes pressing "remove from toolbar" did nothing. It wasn't greyed out, so it should have worked. When I tried it again, sometimes after a couple of tries, the button was removed.
The reason I haven't noticed issue 3 and 4 in previous versions of Opera (<10.10) is that I used the status bar as a combined address- and status-bar. However, if I try that now add the address field to the status bar in 10.5x, the address field is very short and resizes when hovering links. The rest of the issues is new in 10.5x.

3. Nothing wrong with hiding the address bar, but if several tabs are open then you need to hide each separately. All new tabs will follow your latest setting.
4. Not being a developer, I really can't say what "plans" might exist.
Yeah, in 10.5 they decided to make the status bar shorter. This could be changed either by changing skins or editing the toolbar setup, if you'd rather keep it as it was.
Of course, you could also disable tooltips completely - but to me that seems like overkill.
The official Fast Forward gesture is actually either drag right then up. or hold Shift while performing a Forward gesture. If you're using a Forward gesture (without shift) ... well, of course if there is a Forward (someplace you came Back from) then it'll do that instead. Separately, there have been issues in previous 10.5x builds where a compound action (as assigned here, as "Forward | Fast forward") never performed the second action. But let me see ... nope, it is working as expected for me (build 6330 now, Mandriva 2010).

Actually, I found out that the fast forward doesn't work when both the address bar is hidden and you don't have the fast forward button on another toolbar. The gestures you suggest doesn't work either. If i try to add the fast forward button, it is greyed out, but if I go back in history and forward again, it works. So I think I should submit a bug report for this, as fast forward should work independently of the toolbars.
If you try to hide the address bar and don't have a fast forward button on another toolbar and restart the browser, you will (probably) see that fast forward isn't working.
Thanks for answers at 3 and 4, I think I will just keep using it as I have it now, with all tooltips disabled. I see them in the status field anyway (unless it's links with title...). So issue 3 and 4 isn't that important.

Same for me, on linux, took me about 20-30 "remove" clicks just to get rid of the few buttons in the addressbar.6. When I removed all the items from the navigation bar (because I wanted to use it to another thing), sometimes pressing "remove from toolbar" did nothing. It wasn't greyed out, so it should have worked. When I tried it again, sometimes after a couple of tries, the button was removed.
