Upgraded 9.63 to 10.52 -- lost profile

I upgraded Opera from V9.63 to V10.52 and my profile is gone. (no bookmarks, no tabs, no history) The only suggestion that have found thus far to possibly solve the problem is if I was running single user before. I wasn't. Even so, I tried setting Multi User=0 in operaprefs_default.ini just to see if it would help. It made no difference, so I set it back to 1.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you were using multi user = 0 previously then your profile folder should be in the folder where 9.64 was installed.

Perhaps your upgrade has used the MSI installer and installed Opera in C:\Program Files\Opera\

Download the Classic installer (see advanced options) and install it in a new folder. Copy your profile folder to the new folder and then change multiuser to 0 — that way you keep your old installation and can run both versions alongside each other while you adjust to the (significant) UI changes.

I was multi user before the upgrade, not multi user = 0.

I used Opera_1052_en_Setup.exe which is not a .msi file, though perhaps an MSI installer can be contained in a .exe file. Note: I'm running fully upgraded Vista 64. So Opera is installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera not that that should make any difference.

I downloaded the classic installer Opera_1052_classic_Setup.exe (note: Opera 10.52 wouldn't let me download it, I had to use Firefox). I haven't done anything with it yet.

Installing V10.52 replaced my previously existing install of V9.63. I could uninstall 10.52 and reinstall 9.63, but it looks like that alone may no longer be an option. Installing 10.52 appears at the very least to have moved many of my files, and I don't know what else it did. I found the following file C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\upgrade.log which seems to indicate that many files were moved from C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\profile\ to C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\ though the files in C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\profile still appear to contain my old profile data.

Better wait until a Windows 7 user comes by. If you put your OS and Opera version in your forum signature it can save some time.

I imagine that a Vista user would've been fine...

I have recovered my session tabs, and my bookmarks. To do so I had to copy all files from C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\sessions\ to C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\profile\sessions\ and I had to copy the file C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\bookmarks.adr to C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera\profile\ and then rename it to opera6.adr

Looking at opera:about I was able to see where it expected to see the files, then I was able to search for the files and copy them to the places that 10.52 wanted them to be.

Why it would have this problem, I have no idea...
