Cannibalism- Combating the world food shortage.
With Brandes high on painkillers and schnapps, yet consenting, Meiwes removed the man's penis with a knife. He flambéed it, and the two ate it together. Bleeding heavily, Brandes took a bath. He eventually lost consciousness, whereupon Meiwes slit his throat, butchered him and ate a little more of the man's flesh. Over the course of the next few months, Meiwes consumed 44 pounds of Brandes' dead body [source: Speigel].We've all heard about this chap and his penis eating ways. However if humans could get over the bad reputation that cannibalism has got then surely we will have become enlightened.
I say this in terms of processing human waste tissue and recycling it into food. Films like Soylent Green have given the whole subject a bad vibe.
There must be a way that we can utilize a practice that some cultures thought totally acceptable for centuries.

There a few practical problems outside of the morality issue. Too much salt and additives in the meat. Mad cow disease due to the accumulation of Prions to name a few. There is also the age issue, most of the population is too grissled.
As for modern cannibalism. "You yourself, sir, shall grow old as I am if like a crab you could go backward."

Ah, a modest proposal there, Troy, But to answer the way not in a dry and direct way - Mad Cow disease. The cows got it from eating food made from parts of other cows, ie cannibalism. A similar condition has also been observed in human cannibals. readWhy not?
