+ Gray out/disable "remove from toolbar" for the Opera O menu button
I was curious why this decision was made. I like to have the O button to the right of the address bar, but now I can't remove it if I wanted to.
Click Appearance in that context menu, and edit the tool bar from there… (You should see a yellow highlight around the area containing the button you're interested in.)
Reset Toolbar to its Defaults also should put it back where it was.

Resetting the toolbar will put it back to its original position. For future reference, if you want to get rid of it ( i do to save space, you can just press Alt instead) you can by doing the following
The decision was made to stop new users removing the O-menu button from the Pagebar head toolbar, but it also stops them removing it from any other toolbar. I reported this as a bug: DSK-296141
You can remove the button by editing your customised toolbar.ini file.

I failed to do that. After loading the new toolbars the menu has been added automatically.

Editing the toolbar.ini enables you to remove it from any other toolbar, not from the Page Bar head toolbar. To remove that button, turn off the pagebar head toolbar.
A more reliable solution is to edit the skin, and replace the O-button image definition in skin.ini to point to a 1 pixel wide transparent image such as "notifier/center.png." Though it will not remove the button from the toolbar, you won't see it, and you can still use the toolbar for other buttons like new tab etc.

I think there is some bug with that. I previously tried to turn it off it and failed miserably but after some clicking I managed to do that. Oh well... Glad it's not there.

The Opera Menu button is really a tool bar if you right click /customize /remove from Toolbar it reappears when Opera restarts.
To remove it open Appearance then click on the menu button to select it ( a yellow outline shows the selected toolbar ) & set placement to off.
In Opera 10.6 you can also turn off the menu text in Style.
I prefer the Opera Menu set to off i find using the Alt key is better as it allows keyboard shortcuts.

I don't believe this to be true. The menu button is just a button which, by default, is placed on a toolbar by its own. The toolbar, however, is just a toolbar like any other -- you can place other buttons there. The button itself is “magical” which is so annoying.
