Not able to see tools or activate e-mail

I just downloaded and installed 10.5.2 and wanted to set up my gmail accout in Opera Mail. I can't access any of these features. Please help!!

Click the Big-O menu button, top left, or press the Alt key to show the menu.
Select Mail and Chat accounts from the menu.
