Detach pages

With large or wide screens it is more difficult to read a paragraph of text because the eye has to track the text over a greater distance from left to right. The number of words on a line greatly effects how easily we read the text, and books typically have about 10 to 12; so, I often tile my open pages just so that I can reduce the width of the page I'm reading.

Is there a way to selectively detach a page from it's default 'maximised' view?

Create a new shortcut or mouse gesture to restore the page, e.g.

F6 alt shift = Restore page

Or use a shortcut or menu item to restore the window to a specified size with javascript:

Item, "400x800"="Maximise page & Restore page & Go to page, "javascript:resizeTo(413,812), moveTo(20,20)""

Thanks. F6 alt shift doesn't do the restore thing for me.

I searched in the keyboard shortcut settings for 'restore' and found that I can just hit "5" to restore, which brings the current page down to a very small size which I then have to resize to read.

How do I use the line of code in your post? It would be handy to specify a page size with a button.

Thanks again.

Well it won't unless you assign it to restore page in the Keyboard setup dialogue

Just assign the script to the shortcut you want to use in keyboard setup.

Maximise page & Restore page & Go to page, "javascript:resizeTo(413,812), moveTo(20,20)"
