How to get rid of page dimming during open/open with/save dialog
Opera 10.52 was fine (anyway 10.50 or higher), but in 10.53 the page gets dimmed when "open with / open /save" dialog pops up.And the dialog itself look different, I much prefer the previous look.
How to configure Opera to show normal dialogs without page dimming?
I don't want to have to install some custom skin, or something.
Just where to switch off that stupid dimming which so badly hurts my eyes.
My smart monitor runs some auto-adjusting when such a sudden change in the darkness occurs, so the monitor goes almost black for several seconds. It cannot be switched off.
Anyway, I hate that dimming, even on the secondary monitor which does not go black, I still hate it, it is still very bad for eyes.
Any ideas how to get rid of it?
So far I reconfigured some file types to be handled differently so to avoid that dialog altogether. But it is not possible with all files.
And I don't want to have to switch to a different browser. I was using Opera forever.
None other can handle a large number of tabs.
Go to opera:config and type dim in the search engine. Set the setting shown to 0.
I would also like to be able to adjust dimming in other situations than the inline search.

That sounds extremely annoying. I'm sure the dimming was not designed to hamper your day-to-day use like that. Why don't you file a bug report and let the developers know, in some user environment, the dimming causes a serious issue. My smart monitor runs some auto-adjusting when such a sudden change in the darkness occurs, so the monitor goes almost black for several seconds. No. That does nothing for open//save dialogue, wand dialogue (when you have two or more users for login) or settings saved dialogue in opera:config.Go to opera:config and type dim in the search engine. Set the setting shown to 0.

yes, even saving that 0 value for "dim search opacity" causes that unpleasant dimming ...
I would really like to have the old style dialogues, at least they could be available with some classical skin if not in settings (I like everything to look as close to Windows 95 as possible)
But setting dimming to 0 would be enough.
At least search now is without dimming so now I can use it.
So yes, thanks for the suggestion, I sent a bug report. "Opera badly hurts my eyes" basically.
Perhaps that will make them notice it, almost like a product recall request
Although they fixed another bug I reported for 10.52, so it seems they do not ignore bug reports.
