suggestions from a newbie...
Hi, Im a newbie to opera and to be honest opera is the king of browser but its not my default(but i planned to totally switch)...So ok enough with the crappy intro,
Ok my suggestion is make speed dial just like in chrome that it remembers last opened websites and automatically speed dials every page you visited (not configure yourself) speed dial should observe your internet habit.
SpeedDial allows you to keep track of the websites you want to visit frequently. You should be the one to determine, why do you need Opera to do it?
If you really need that function, enable the "Start bar" and there is a "Top 10" function for you.
To enable the Start Bar, right click the URL bar -> Customise -> Appearance -> Toolbars -> *selects* Start Bar
And no yongshun, it is not the same! I would like SpeedDial settings to have the choice of either set yourself your shortcuts, or to let Opera fill them automatically with your most visited websites. If Chrome and Safari both offer this possibility maybe it's because it interests some users

I was aware of the Top 10 function but it would be great if it was available in Speeddial. Again, i don't want to change the Speeddial behaviour, only to add this possibility.

Anyway, feature requests belong in the Wish-list forum.
If it is currently used by Chrome, try a search before posting. Its probably been suggested before.

Since you're new I assumed you don't know about the "Top 10" feature of Opera, the Speed dial is design to give you fast access to a handful of websites, it's not a reminder of your most visited websites. You can get the similar reminder by:
1. go to Appearance (Shift + F12) > Buttons > Browser,
2. then you will see a Top 10 button,
3. drag & drop the Top 10 button into any toolbar you like & you got a reminder for the 10 most visited list.
The Top 10 button is also located in the Start bar by default, so if you enabled the Start bar then you will also able to get access to it.
Hope that help.![]()
Dude, did you read the second post of this thread?...
And no Pesala, this is NOT a stupid idea, don't be patronizing, thanks. My use of internet evolves each day, each week : i mean that during a period of time i will visit more some websites, and i would love that Speeddial reflects this use, like Chrome does. Since the Top10 function is already here, the suggestion of the OP and me is just to implement it in the Speeddial as an optional setting, not as the default behavior.
I do not use Chrome : Opera FTW !
But some ideas of the other browsers are good, not "stupid".Happy Dell Streak owner!
dude09, i just pointed to you that your advice has been already given in the second post of this thread, making obvious that you didn't read the thread...
And all the second part of my post (about "patronizing" and "stupid idea") was an answer to Pesala, not to you. Sorry that it was not clear. I edited my post in order to add "Pesala".

As for me, I would like to have it in parallel of speed dial as well (but not as a replacement), since as said my use of favourite sites can change quickly... and sometimes I like to have "true" favourites in speedial (news websites for instance) and "practical" stuff the way chrome does (eg, I don't want to have website x in my speedial, because I don't think it belongs to my sorting system, but I still want to have quick access).
cheers

Opera already opens the tabs you had open automatically.
And -1 to randomly changing speed dial.

Some other semi-related ideas, just to show you the amount of options available in Opera ;-)
Someone already mentioned the Top10 and Start Bar..
You can Edit Startup Type ..
Available options:
0 = Use saved session
2 = Use home page
3 = Continue from last time
4 = No windows or pages
5 = Show startup dialog
History Tab - Here you can sort on "popularity" too.
