Large file downloads stopping on their own?

I'm having a minor issue with downloading a large video netcast with Opera. Each week the show is about 230 MB and each week after I start the download, the DL manager will stop the file if I go to another tab and scroll or click links. Once I resume the file download, it progresses as it should with no interruption. If I stay in the download tab, it does not stop.

This only acts up in Opera. I use the RSS feed but have had it stop using other download links to the video as well.

Other downloads of smaller size do not stop by themselves and these videos download without stopping in other browsers.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I am hesitant to file a bug report until I'm sure it's not just this one RSS feed that is somehow causing Opera problems.

I experience this same problem most of the time when downloading from a file sharing service. I posted this problem here: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=529542 but did not file a bug, perhaps it you can go ahead and file.

Hmm. Do the downloads actually stop on their own, or just dwindle down to 0 KB/s? I've had that happen while using a cell phone data service, but never on broadband. I just attributed it to poor quality wireless data, lol.

This is Opera actually acting like I stopped the file transfer. It's very strange.

What OS are you using? I tried that download in Windows, while doing a lot of other things in Opera, and didn't see a hiccup. I download files of that size fairly often and haven't seen the issue, so I'm not sure what's going on unless it's a Linux/Mac thing.

D'oh sorry I didn't include that. Windows XP.

I downloaded the Open Office installer yesterday, which is over 140 MB and it didn't give me any problems. So now I'm wondering if it could just be a problem between Opera and CNet's download service?
