What?...lol

No really... the title is "<i>Can't install opera error message</i>" then you give zero information about that except for what OS, and some specifications. Then you randomly mention Maxthon... followed with what <i>seems</i> to say that Opera is already installed, but not starting properly, then trail off into asking about what kind of computer you should buy... .. .

1. What is the error message?
2. What version of Opera?
3. Depending on the site/content and unless it's an obvious/unrelated error... what's the site?
4. Does opening Opera with any other setting (other than continue saved sessions/etc) work?
5. You posted a message on these forums... using what browser?

It's easy enough to make a back-up of the sessions, in your <a href="opera:about">profile</a> folder, just back-up the "sessions" folder, then you can test any other start-up methods etc without losing your session(s).

Sorry, I had a longer version but accidentally erased it .Didn't feel like doing the whole thing over.I forgot to what the error message is.
ERROR failed to load the Unicode compatability layer OUniAnsi.DLL because: One of the library files needed to run the application cannot be found.
Its the latest version of opera.
The site is http://www.youngpornmovies.com/
I can't try any other opening method because I can't even get that far.As soon as I click the opera icon or box for opera in my startup programs I get the error message. The error message shows up also after I uninstalled opera then reinstalled it.I figure it did reinstall because I get the shortcut icon on my desktop and task bar.Thats what I meant when I said it looks like its installed.
i used firefox to post this message.

the previous message suggested I try Maxthon and that mace me wonder if my specs could support it.I want to get a computer with better specs but I suppose that should be another topic/post.
thank you.

Hi, I uninstalled it again then installed version 9.64 which gave me another but different error message. It said ver. 9.64 can't run with the mail files from the newer version.I went back to the download page and a box came up that told me I can download the newer version so I tried that again and Vala' it worked.I guess installing the older version even though it couldn't open changed something so that I could open the new install of the new version .

I just realized its not the newest version thats running. Its version 9.64.I tried installing the newest version again but still got the error message about can't load OUniAnsi.DLL. I looked in my program files under my computer>programs>opera and I saw the file OUniAnsi.dll but that is version 9.64

He's running Windows ME, as far as that DLL error goes... I have no first-hand knowledge about it, but judging by others peoples comments who are also running ME, it seems that the problem comes and goes.

Support for 9.x/ME is really... iffy... you might try 10.1, or any number of <a href="http://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/">other versions</a>.

I would also assume that OUniAnsi is fairly generic, and if you find one that works, especially for the same major version (like 9.5 to 9.6, or 10.0 to 10.1, etc) that you might be able to simply copy/paste the "working" one over one that doesn't work.

Some people have fixed it by doing a clean install, which means that you have to back-up your Profile folder, uninstall Opera, and probably manually delete the folders... install it again, then copy over stuff from your profile to the new install (folder-by-folder would probably be better than all at once, testing in between each one).

Optionally, provided you can get access to the Opera install that has your e-mails, you could also install it separately (as you seem to have done with 9.64 and whichever other version you are using), then start using the newer/clean install as your main browser, and in the meantime use the older one for e-mail, and slowly migrate things over...

Other than that... I have no idea...lol

I got it(as long as it keeps working) I typed --- ERROR: Failed to load the Unicode compatability layer OUniAnsi.DLL because:One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found.---into google search and found this which worked for me. "I was able to resolve the problem again by uninstalling, rebooting computer, then reinstalling Opera, going straight to opera folder and running Opera.exe and then immediately restarting the computer after closing the Opera window. When it came up it has worked every time since."
The entire page's URL from which I got this is---http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=289516
