Opera Very, Very Slow

Opera is painfully slow here. It lags at every step of the way. I'm not experiencing such a problem with any of my other browsers...Firefox, Safari, Camino or iCab (they all perform quite fast).
I'm using Opera 10.53. My OS is Leopard 10.5.8 on an Intel core 2 duo MacBook Pro with 2 gigs of RAM.
Anyone have ideas/suggestions?

OK, I redownloaded 10.53 and reinstalled it; it's now humming along in sprightly fashion. No more slow going.
I haven't a clue what caused the slow running issue before.
