Open in new tab when search/dictionary/go to web address

Hi All

Is it possible that let opera open a new tab when search/dictionary/go to web address?

I can do it before updating to 10.52, and now in 10.52 it shows in the same tab.

Can I change some settings?

Cheers

Shift+Click or Shift+Enter should open it in a new tab (unless that's what "can do it before" meant and no longer does)

I've had the same trouble with 10.53. My prior version, 10.0 P1285, allowed me to search in a new tab, but opened clicked links in same tab. Now, all items open in new tab.

In past releases, I've modified the search.ini & standard_menu.ini files to allow for search/dictionary/encyclopedia to open in a new tab, but all other clicks to open in the existing tab. That's exactly what I want for 10.53, but cannot get the browser to operate that way. I do not want keyboard shortcuts; I prefer right-clicking and selecting with the mouse.

Can someone direct me to the settings/file modifications so Opera will retain its consistency on my system? Thanks so much!

Regards,
Pamela

opera:config#UserPrefs|SingleWindowBrowsing check
opera:config#UserPrefs|NewWindow check

Would you like to try?

Amtsbereich,
Thank you for your reply. I've modified the settings as you instructed, and the search right-click opens in a new tab, but the click link still opens in new tab as well.

What do you recommend now?

Regards,
Pamela

……
After I change setting to "opera:config#UserPrefs|SingleWindowBrowsing check",I click any link open in the current tab……
Would you like to try "opera:config#UserPrefs|TargetDestination =1"at the same time?Or "opera:config#UserPrefs|TargetDestination =0"?
Or “opera:config#UserPrefs|IgnoreTarget”check?

Amtsbereich,
Thank you for your reply. I know what is happening - sorry for my miscommunication. Links clicked in a tab open in the same tab; right-click search/dictionary/encyclopedia opens in new tab. The new issue is selecting a bookmark shortcut opens a new tab - that's the situation that is new to this version. Other versions allowed the site to open in the same tab. If I modify the settings in preferences/tabs, it's an all-or-nothing scenario.

I just want this version to act like my other 10 P1285 version. Bottom line - if I click a link or bookmark, I want to reuse same tab; search/dictionary/encyclopedia clicks, I want in a tab beside current tab. What happened to this ability??

Regards,
Pamela

Okay, so now there's another issue. When I click on a check or deposit link at my bank's site (Comerica.com) to view the actual check or deposit image, the entire page closes. No extra page to see the image of the deposit or check - the page I was originally looking at just shuts down.

This version is not working out well for my requirements. Can anyone shed some light on why these issues are occurring?

Regards,
Pamela
