URL Drag&Drop to *.url file
Well, I searched this forum but couldn't find the request for this handy feature.Like in Internet Explorer or Firefox, one can drag'n'drop the current url with it's favicon on to the desktop/folder/... and a .url file is automatically created with which one can open that url by clicking on it.
Thanks for your time!
I don't think it ever uses the favicon, but Opera does (should do) the the rest. Drag any link to the desktop, it will create a shortcut to it, using the link text.
For the Addressbar, you have to drag/drop the favicon itself, not the actual text.

Yes, that's what I meant; sry if I was a little bit unclear.
So, this procedure works for you? Hmm.... I only get the blocked mouse-icon (seen in the attachment)

What Operating System?... It's working in Windows... I'll reboot into Linux and see if it works there in a bit.
Edit: Working in Linux too... Fedora 12 at least, Ubuntu 10.04 is being a pain so I won't bother...

Well, just tried it on a Winxp machine... it's working. But I'm using Opera-Usb, so I tried that in XP: still working.
Next I installed the newest opera browser on my Win7 box, but it didn't work. Even when started as administrator.
So I have to conclude, that this is currently not working in Win7-x64? (I kinda doubt that, but what else could be the problem?)

It might not be working... I can't test Win7 since I got mad at it and formatted the drive for Linux...lol
My Vista SP2 32bit box is working fine though, at least in that regard...
Edit: as well as XP SP3 (the one I'm posting from).

It would be great to have this also in the Windows version of Opera. I'd rather want them to implement this kind of functionality by drag & dropping tabs to the desktop. To keep the open in new window functionality, just let us drag & drop tabs into the document window instead. If we do that now Opera just refreshes the page and I personally find this very useless since I find CTRL + R a much faster way.
, so can't test it there...
