V10.53: "Classic" version?, Changing Wand drop down back to pop-up,

I prefer to use the classic version since it allows all folders to be placed in the Opera folder instead of scattering them around in that damn Documents & Settings folder. I saw no choice for this version.

1. How do you move everything out of the Documents & Settings folder back to the Opera folder?
2. Wand pop-up box gone. How do you return to the pop-up Wand box instead of that drop down?
Removing the menu bar is the same as blocking access to a vehicle engine by removing the hood access.
No wonder Opera continues to loose users.

It doesn't matter which installer you use, you can change that option at any time.

In the main Opera installation folder there's a file called "operaprefs_default.ini" open it (while Opera is closed) and set MultiUser to off like "MultiUser=0" when Opera is started after, it will create the Profile folder in the main Opera folder (..\Program Files\Opera\*).

As far as your questions go:
1. Manually... if MultiUser is turned off, then just cut/paste everything from the "scattered" ones into the non-multiuser one.

Somewhere in these two areas
..\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Opera\*
..\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera\*

2. Not possible... you'll have to deal with it...lol, luckily if you actually use Wand, then you should only see it once per site you log into, then just use the Wand button/keystrokes thereafter.

In operaprefs_default.ini in your Opera directory put
[System]
Multi User=0 ; If enabled Opera will use Windows profiles to store individual user settings

The rest is a matter of copying or moving over the profile folder.

Or just use the installer with single profile option.

Impossible.

Impossible.

This is just plain stupid, how am I supposed to close the freaking bar without touching the mouse?

I agree.

It closes automatically after a certain number of seconds. This is rather annoying because sometimes you may want to save the password after all and it already waves bye bye, but at least it'll get out of your way if you normally were to have pressed escape. I definitely prefer the old behavior. I keep reaching for my mouse/touchpad to click X because it's too slow on the one hand and as I already explained, too fast on the other. In summary: the computer is here to serve me and not vice versa, but it doesn't feel like it anymore.

Couldn't possibly agree more on this...

It closes automatically after a certain number of seconds.

I just found that one out. Been logging into a friend's private home-ftp, which is a little slow. Gone to the kitchen and expected the dialog to still be there, so I could check if I remembered the password correctly. Well, I've been authed, but the window has already be gone. So logout, login again and click, major suckage sad

I finally found where the "Classic" version is hidden using 'Advanced' in their Website. AFAIC, this should be the standard install since it allows everything to be placed in the 'Opera' folder as opposed to being scattered elsewhere where most couldn't find them.

In the main Opera installation folder there's a file called "operaprefs_default.ini" open it (while Opera is closed) and set MultiUser to off like "MultiUser=0" when Opera is started after, it will create the Profile folder in the main Opera folder (..\Program Files\Opera\*).

I managed to find this and change it back. Apparently when I installed the un-classic version, it changed this file. I changed the "1" to a "0", then using the Classic install again (it didn't work the first time), I managed to get my established preferences back.

Somewhere in these two areas
..\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Opera\*
..\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera\*

Why are they in two spots??

This is a bad idea. Nothing was wrong with the way it was.
Guys, please stop changing things that aren't broke!!

Technically there are 3 spots... but only about 0.1% of the Users use the third spot...
AppData = The stuff you change, preferences, bookmarks, wand, urlfilter, etc...
Local/AppData = stuff Opera changes, or changes more frequently, cache, icons, mail, etc...

Opera *should* only use Local... but they haven't seemed to be able to "lock that down yet" so it still tends to toss stuff all over... but multiple folders, is still normal behavior.

The other is "Roaming", where it uses/syncs with a profile on another PC.

But it's not Opera's fault that they are scattered, that's just how Microsoft has decided to deal with User Data (starting with XP, and fully with Vista). It's basically the same in Linux, and Mac as well (who were doing it long before Windows). A lot of computers are multi-user... "family PC's"...etc, so they need the separated profiles.

Personally I find it annoying too, but once MultiUser is set/disabled, it stays the same, provided you use the same installer types (MSI to MSI, Classic to Classic, etc)

I understand it is/was mostly M$'s fault combining Documents and Settings in one folder. BUT, using the 'multiple' users' only adds problems. I tried it once (with the O/S) and it was nothing but a hassle. While I see it for business, it's overkill for home use.

Getting back to this 'Wand' issue, I just tried V10.52 and that has the problem also. When was this changed?? I use the Wand feature all this time. It is extremely important to be to have it function properly. My question is after trying it once for a site that didn't have the data entered, I mistyped the username and password. I first see there is no "Not now" option. Only a yes or no. If the username/password doesn't work and I do nothing, will it popup again the next time I try to enter the site?
