Preferences menu absolutely blank on Opera 10.5

hi! this is the problem: all the text in the "Preferences" menu, or "Appearance" menu is missing. I uploaded some screenshots:

I was using Opera 10.51 and i upgraded it to v10.53 (the last one) but the problem is not gone.
I'm using winXPSP2 - java v6 update 20. I don't know what else can be important. Please ask if you need more info

Is anyone having the same problem?
I'll be really thankful if someone could help me.
