saving money every day using opera.
I live in a small country town in Australia. I havnt used the net much the last few years as only mobile phone. I now use a cheap pre-paid samsung mobile phone as a modem. I recharge my phone credit every couple of weeks and get free talk-time and text if I recharge say $40. I then use the $40 credit to purchase browse packs > $40 = 400 mbs. > So $40 Telstra 3G network for 150 mins talk, 200 txts and 400 mb internet access. < Good combination but expensive for net access. ... along comes opera ... After using explorer and then google chrome for a few months I was happy with the stability of my limited 2 bar connection via my mobile but not happy with the speed mainly and the obvious limitations of 400 meg a fortnight for surfing and downloading updates, mp3s etc... after downloading opera and switching on turbo mode I noticed a speed increase and liked the simple interface of opera... after a few days I uninstalled chrome and made opera my main browser with ie8 as backup. Then I noticed some major changes after isolating opera as my main browser. 1.. when I wasnt doing much with ie8 or chrome I was still losing data on an ongoing basis which was cutting into my 400 meg (can see up and down data on dial up monitor).... with opera I dont seem to be losing hardly any data. 2.. In turbo mode the graphics are obviously degraded a bit but the speed increase is very noticable on my connection. 3.. because of the data compression I am only downloading half the amount of data visiting the same websites, which means I can spend twice as long on the net for the same price. I reckon for my $40 while using opera , I get $80 - $100 equivalent value for when I was using ie8. or 800 meg instead of 400. plus noticable faster speeds.. big difference for a 10 meg piece of software hey , which is why im writing this coz I can finally sit back and relax on the net without stressing about time and money costs. good onya 2010... d peppermint-3 (linux) * Celeron 2800 * 1.5 gig ddr-400 ram
