Opera 10.53 Mac does not execute with normal user.
I have just replaced version 10.10 with version 10.53. The install was done on my admin user. Now Opera does not execute using my regular user. But it is ok using the admin user.Double clicking the application in the programs folder makes the Opera icon in the dock bounce once and that's it. I have read only access to Opera and the application contents. Owner is my admin user.
Build 8343 Mac OS X 10.4.11. PPC 400 MHz
Any suggestions?
Editing texts (this post) is also excedingly sluggish with the new version (Copy, paste, select and delete)

I installed Opera 10.52 and had same difficulty.
Finally I re-installed Opera 10.10 and the browser *is* working again.
To summarize: Opera 10.10 works, Opera 10.52/10.53 do NOT work.
Dear Opera People: What's going wrong with the latest versions of Opera for (PPC) Mac?
If you don't have the old dmg, I think you will get one here: http://www.opera.com/browser/download/?os=mac&list=all
Today, May 4, I "manually" downloaded Opera 10.53 for Mac from Opera's site and installed it again. This time Opera 10.53 started up with NO problem! I didn't reboot or do anything else. (And no changes had been made to my system since my initial attempt to upgrade to Opera 10.53 a couple days ago.)
So why did the upgrade work this time? Did Opera's software writers fix the download package?
Very odd.
I took some hours to document and copy the status of the Opera installation in a second MacOS 10.4.11 PowerBook I have. Then I installed 10.53 from the exact same dmg as above. And guess what: No problems, almost.
I noticed a change in this installation compared to the dud:
Opera 10.10 on this PowerBook had dowloaded a new version of Opera by itself before I installed from the dmg. After launching the newly installed Opera I was promted to "Install now" or "install later". The "install later" button did not work, so in the end I clicked "install now". This second installation was over in a moment. And then Opera 10.53 fired up.
Odd is my first name.

Then it stops. I don't know, if this is helping. I hope it, but I don't expect it. I would be very happy about a workaround.
NMM.
Opera 10.53 will not execute
I have a MacPro Intel with OSX 10.6.3
Opera starts to execute but all I get is Opera dock item highlighted and "Opera" in the menu bar but nothing else.
I have tried different downloads and all are the same.
I have also tried on my MacBook Pro intel with OSX 10.6.3 and exactly the same thing happens.
I have tried deleting preferences files etc and still no luck.
Anyone know which is the latest stable/working version with Intel OSX 10.6.3?
Fixed it like this!
Open the Opera Universal .DMG file and DO NOT DRAG THE OPERA PROGRAM TO THE 'APPLICATIONS' FOLDER instead DRAG IT TO YOUR 'DESKTOP'!
'Double click' on this to Run it, to prove that it works.
I then found that if I moved it to the 'Applications' folder it would not work, so place it in the 'Utilities' folder and then make an alias of it.
Move the alias to the 'Applications' folder now use the alias or the 'Dock' item and it should Run.
This would seem to suggest some permission problem with 10.53 for the Mac
