Opera 10.53 does not start.

I was using Opera 10.51 up until today. Update was downloaded using Opera's own "check for update" function, installation process appeared to be successful. Nevertheless every time I click the Opera icon, I get no response apart from opera.exe process appearing in the windows task manager processes tab, later opera.exe process is instantaneously substituted with something called "operaupgrader.exe". Note the same problem does not appear if I log in to PC as a different user.

Try to delete Opera completely then manually download and reinstall it.

Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t help. Like I said other accounts on the PC can use Opera without any problems. I downloaded the USB pen-drive version of Opera browser and it worked. Later I deleted all the files in Opera directory and copied files from USB version of Opera to this directory, now USB version of Opera which had worked previously will not start, also exhibiting the same symptoms as official desktop version.

I have had the same problem this morning on my G5 Mac running OS X 10.5.8. After updating to Opera 10.53 (UB), Opera refused to start and didn't give any error messages or clues as to why it would not start. I tried deleting Opera and downloading and manually reinstalling the latest version which still refused to start. I have managed to fix the issue by deleting the Opera caches folder. On the Mac the folder I needed to delete was located in: /users(my account)/library/caches/opera. After removing this folder, 10.53 works fine for me. I don't know where the caches folder is stored on a Windows system but if you can find it try removing it.

I had the same problem, but deleting operaupgrader.exe from my temp folder fixed it.

I am having the same problem. I considered moving to Opera a week ago and installed version 10.61 (fresh) on a computer running Windows 7. When Opera is closed, perhaps it does not really close and stays running at the background. Then when I try to open the program, a box pops up, saying : "Another instance of Opera is still in the process of shutting down. Please wait until it finishes, or terminate it using the task manager. Please retry to restart opera, or cancel to quit."

Then I have to kill the process using a program like Process Killer or Process Viewer. Sometimes I see more than one instance of Opera running at the background.

This is boring.

Is there any way to prevent it.
