Opera won't open
I just restarted my computer (Mac powerpc 2.1 ghz, MAC OS X 10.5.8) and now Opera won't open. I click the icon and the active-app light comes on for about one second and then it's turned off. How do I get it working again? I forgot to say that I also tried to delete Opera and reinstall, but the same thing happens...Hello frank,
See my post less than 2-1/2 hours before yours. Same Subject line. My Opera application has also ceased to open, giving me just a screen flicker when I double-click the icon. No other application is affected.
I tried to download another version, thinking that my Opera became corrupted. But the new version also doesn't open. I find, however, that if I drag the new downloaded icon onto the desktop, IT DOES OPEN PROPERLY. And if I drag the application to my User folder, it will open correctly. But if I drag that same icon to my Applications folder, and double-click the icon, nothing happens except the brief flicker. Opera refuses to open if it is placed in the Applications folder.
I suppose a work-around is to keep the application on the desktop, and access it from there. But obviously, something is very wrong, and I am reluctant to rely on this odd workaround. I suppose it is back to Firefox or Safari for me. Too bad. Opera was a nice browser. Had many convenient features. But a browser is too important to take a chance like this.
