Odd google search behavior

I'm having a strange problem with google and the forum search didn't seem to turn up anything.

Essentially here is what happens:

1. Search for X
2. Click a link
3. Click the back button to go back to search listings, but instead it goes back to the main google page, but only for a second before returning to the link I clicked and in the history the google search page is missing and I can't go back to it. So essentially I have to run the same search over and over again each time I want to try a new link.

For example:

I search for "opera forums" and click the first link which takes me to http://my.opera.com/community/forums/. I click back and for about a second it takes me to google.com with "opera forums" in the search box (skipping over the search listings), then it takes me back to http://my.opera.com/community/forums/ and I can no longer click back.

Any ideas?

Thanks

No such problem here. What is your OS and Opera version number? (Useful to put this in your Forum Signature) Is it a clean installation or are you using some custom buttons?

this has been happening to me too. i'll reply to this even though there's another post on the issue

http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=560561

i'm using 10.53, build 3374 on xp with sp3

this has only happened recently. i think with this build specifically - although, i'm not 100 % sure about that.

it really is quite annoying though.

no custom buttons. just the default setup.

hmm...ok, so i tried something...i had set opera to be masked as firefox at google.ca for that whole picture thing they did last week. i wondered what would happen if i changed this. so, i first changed to identify as firefox - problem continued. then i set to identify as opera, and the problem stopped.

i would love it if someone else could verify this.
