Opera Mini 5.0.18741 vs. Bolt Beta 2.02 on Samsung GT-S5230 - complete inconsistency Opera Mini?
Dear developers Opera Mini!Let's all the same try to place all points above i.
On an example of an opposition of two mobile browsers on super the popular telephone, I want to help you to understand, what wrong way of development of the browser you have chosen.
Let's compare two browsers - Opera Mini 5.0.18741 and Bolt Beta 2.02 (it is the current versions of browsers).
The test I shall make on the telephone Samsung GT-S5230 (resolution of a matrix 240x400). Nobody begins to deny, that at present it, probably, inexpensive touch telephone, most popular in the world. Telephones more than 10 millions copies are sold. Add here some more millions very similar millions of very similar telephones Samsung Corby and you will understand, that it is the suitable telephone for the tests.
The size of the distribution kits of both browsers is almost identical (about 250 kb). It allows to assume, that potentially applications will use identical resources of the telephone.
We install both browsers on the telephone. The installation does not cause any problems, however Bolt is established little bit faster.
We start Opera Mini 5. After initial initialization we see beautiful, interface, perfectly optimized under the touch screen, with very convenient control buttons. But what occurs further? The not disconnected effects of animation and smooth scrolling force the poor telephone strongly to brake at transitions on items of the menu and at scrolling of pages. Pages can be displayed on a choice by three fonts, any of which does not appear optimum for Samsung GT-S5230. The fine font is too small, average font almost normal, but the largest font practically does not differ on the sizes from average. Why? With what in it sense?
The situation turns out, when вс ё or too finely, or is too large.
Thus, fonts any indistinct and not comfortable for eyes.
And what at Bolt?
We start Bolt and is seen that all interface contains too fine elements. It is very easy for correcting, having chosen one of 6 (!) the perfect drawn fonts, which very precise and pleasant eyes. Together with the size of the chosen font the size пунтков the menu optimum changes also. The items of the menu become optimum and convenient for pressing by a finger.
Now we try web-surfing.
Opera Mini 5 on the telephone Samsung GT-S5230 opens pages very quickly (it it is no wonder, taking into account a plenty of powerful intermediate servers), however itself rendering of pages on the telephone Samsung GT-S5230 occurs very slowly, to significant braking. Besides after loading page completely telephone frequently "becomes transfixed" on some seconds and at this time does not react absolutely on any actions. The telephone is extremely loaded by a browser Opera Mini 5 and the program takes away all his resources. The moving fingers of fragments of page occurs jerky, very not beautifully and strongly irritates.
Now Bolt Beta 2.02.
We open pages. Because of much smaller quantity of intermediate servers and their small capacity, the pages open slowly enough, though it depends on time of day. Sometimes almost also is fast, as well as at Opera Mini5.
Rendering of pages and scrolling occur perfectly. Any braking. The telephone perfectly reacts to moving of fragments of pages by a finger and not "becomes transfixed" for one second.
In Bolt there are no effects of a smooth portrayal of pages and cinetic скроллинга and consequently the surfing passes on excellent.
Work with tabs.
In Opera Mini5 tabs are included very beautifully and completely... Is not practical! Glamour beauty of tabs-miniatures force strongly to brake of telephones and already 2 tabs are capable to put on knees any telephone, not only Samsung GT-S5230.
In Воlt Beta 2 works with tabs is organized very simply, not beautifully, but it is convenient and is practical. And tabs perfectly work. Even 3 tabs do not force the telephone to brake.
I shall not begin to write further about feature of work from the menu, bookmarks, history of visitings, but I shall note, that anyone, who will try to find out it, will be convinced at once, that Bolt in this plan on many positions outstrips Opera Mini 5. As the work with service Opera Link is organized in Opera Mini 5 extremely bad.
So, dear developers Opera Mini 5, I in next time ask you to be lowered from heavens on ground and to come round.
You have created a browser, which is absolutely not convenient in use on the most numerous and popular telephones in the world.
Thus other browsers on this telephone work perfectly.
Then its not a fault of opera.Your phone doesnt have enough memory.
Multiple tabs work perfectly on phones with high memory without 'bringing them to their knees'.
Opera 10.63 on Windows 7 Ultimate.[/I]
You have some valid complaints--people have been asking to eliminate the page transitions since the first beta of V5. I find BOLT is not so good on my BlackBerry device because there is no single column view and the page loading gets stuck at 20% for what seems like eternity. Chinu92 has a point in that the operation of tabs is highly dependent on your phone's capabilities. For example, I have no issues opening several tabs on my BlackBerry device. It's obvious Opera and Bitstream use different methods if the browsers act differently on the same device. Hopefully Opera will be able to improve performance in the Java version of Mini.

Then explain why Bolt Beta 2 and Opera Mini Mod 3.12 (by DG-SC) work with 3-5 tabs without any problems?
Obviously, since om 5 has better page rendering and a better UI than bolt 2.02.And dont talk about mods here.

It is pleasant to listen to the man which is capable objectively to look at a thing.
All these " improvements and smooth transitions ", well why in the previous versions the developers have found correct to make by their switched off, and in opera mini 5 is not present?
That bad that tens millions users not of powerful telephones would receive an opportunity to continue and with the new version comfortably to use the favourite program?!
Concerning loading pages through Bolt.
I do not know at whom as, and on Samsung 5230 works both single column, and landskape modes. Thus many forums only through single column at Bolt look equally on width of page, that not always it happens through Opera Mini.
Concerning tabs.
Both opera mini, and bolt can not with them work without the large loading for the telephone. However with Bolt and tabs my telephone does not enter into a status of lag a bit later, and with Opera Mini - yes!
I think, that the company Bitstream (which, by the way, makes professional fonts) somehow could force to work the normally browser on not powerful telephones, and Opera Software ASA - is not present. Though Opera Software ASA easily could make too most, but who then begins to advance sales of expensive powerful telephones?
Chinu92, can to me to record a video, where it will be visible, as strongly brakes on Samsung GT-S5230 Opera Mini 5 and how quickly works Bolt Beta 2?
And concerning Opera Mini mod 3.12 know what for I has written?
In it mod the opportunity is realized to include the external drawn fonts and to disconnect all " improvements and smooth transitions ".
After these improvements mod works with fantastic speed, which is not achievable in Opera Mini 5.
And you see if in Opera Mini 5 have added the same opportunities, also this version would work also.
I do not praise Bolt!
In this browser also there is a set of lacks, but even with these lacks this browser is capable normally to work on not of powerful telephones almost without problems. Means even not high-power of telephones ENOUGH! And Java-machine on them quite powerful.
So why Opera Mini, which earlier perfectly worked practically on ANY telephones, has turned away from them by the person?
They made Opera Mini 5 and then they have enough money for BIG phones.
People, do not give them newest cellphones, or Opera Mini 6 will run only on latest desktop OS's.
PS The don't want even make some options to shut down all "beauties".
Hmmm opera works fast on my k800i and its very old phone..but fastest on my iphone..i also experienced lag with tabs when i used on my friends corby..i dont think its memory issue..its more about how app handles the resources..all you can do is to check if there is any firmware update for your phone..or just use 4.2..

Hehe, actually I use a K750i (and it's not uncommon for our developers here have even older phones). Although you might see in the press that quite a bit of recent attention has been given to higher-end platforms, it is definitely a myth that we've forgotten about the rest.
We put in countless hours of effort to try to get Opera running on as many phones as possible (there are a lot out there!
). That being said, there are always trade-offs to adding features to new versions, that less capable phones might not deal with so well.Keep an eye out for updates in the future though, as we are constantly working to optimise and improve.
Long live feature phones I say!

But unfortunately I can very hardly run OM5 on my old N95 smartphone. It takes some 10 seconds to strip out the 'www' part in Enter Address alone. Not to mention the lack of #3 is really a deal breaker to a large extent when you have a non-touch phone. They say speed is everything for an application - and for me OM5 is really slow except for browsing. So I'm using 4.2 all the time, although it's very slow to load pages now.
I am very sure OM5 works smoothly in touch devices, which is a big and emerging market, and I'm sure is your business concern. Which is very fair.
