"Unable to complete secure transaction" after updating to 10.5

Ever since upgrading to Opera 10.5 (currently using 10.53) I'm having problems connecting to some sites that require me to log in. I put in my username and password and try to log in but end up with this message.

"Unable to complete secure transaction"

If I try refreshing a couple of times the site loads up just fine with me now logged in. This most notably happens with my University website and since I need to access it multiple times a day it's quite annoying. This does not happen with IE and I never had it happen until after I updated to 10.5 - what can I do to fix this?

Did you try searching the Opera browser forum? You are not the first person to experience login problems. You most likely don't have the security protocols being used enabled.

On secure https pages, to the right of the address should be box with a locked icon and domain name. If you click in that box or press Alt + Enter, a Security Information window will open. At the lower left corner of the Security tab, it will tell you the security protocol being used. For Google accounts it is:
Encryption protocol
TLS v1.0 128 bit ARC4 (1024 bit RSA/SHA)

Go to Preferences > Advanced > Security > Security Protocols. Enable TLS 1 needs to be checked and in Details >> 128 bit ARC4 (RSA/SHA) needs to be checked. The default settings are to have all of the security protocols enabled, and in Details, the first five 0 bit and Anonymous are not selected and all others are. Click here for an image.

i must disagree - this issue comes up even with the security protocols all enabled.
I am right now hitting refresh on the google login page and getting nowhere. 10th F5 and counting...

something is fundamentally *broken* if browser A (opera) cannot load the same page that the other usual browser suspects can open

I've already checked for that and the protocol used by the site (TLS v1.0 256 bit AES (1024 bit DHE_RSA/SHA) ) is enabled.

Try deleting the cookies for the affected domain. If that does not work, close Opera and rename (e.g. bcookies4.dat), move, or delete the cookies4.dat file. Help > About Opera will show the path to the preference files on your system. A new cookies4.dat file will be created when Opera is restarted.
