Opera 10.53b1 on RHEL 5.5 results in "symbol lookup error:"
I installed opera-10.53-6330.x86_64.rpm on my Red Hat Enterprise Linux v5.5 system and when I try to run it via the bash command lineI get the following error:
/usr/lib/opera/opera: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/opera/opera: undefined symbol: FT_Library_SetLcdFilter
If I try to run via the KDE taskbar button, I get a pop-up error stating:
Service '/usr/share/applications/opera.desktop' is malformatted.
I have the exact same problem. I'm on a RHEL 5 (or Centos 5 as you like) and have this bug since one release of opera 10.5 (don't remember which one). I tested the first 10.5 alpha of opera and all worked fine. After a while, I installed the newest version of opera 10.5 on linux and I have the same error message, I tried to reinstall the oldest version of 10.5 that I found (I am not sure that it was the same as the one I first installed) and I still have this message. In the meantime I install some other packages, so maybe it is an incompatibility with other packages (not related to opera).
